(क) किसान को बादलों का इंतज़ार क्यों रहता है?

उत्तर: किसान को बादलों का इंतज़ार इसलिए रहता है क्योंकि वो पानी बरसाते हैं जिससे उसके खेत सींचे जाते हैं।

(ख) कवि को वर्षा होने पर किसान की याद क्यों आती है?

उत्तर: कवि को वर्षा के समय किसान की याद इसलिए आती है क्योंकि किसान अपनी खेती से ही हम सभी का पेट भरता है।

(ग) कवि ने किसान की तुलना चातक पक्षी से क्यों की है?

उत्तर: कवि ने किसान की तुलना चातक पक्षी से की है क्योंकि जैसे चातक पक्षी स्वाति नक्षत्र की बूंद ही पीता है अन्यथा प्यासा मर जाता है, उसी प्रकार किसान अपनी धरती की प्यास बुझाने के लिए वर्षा की आस देखता है।

2. सोचो, समझो और बताओ

क्या होगा-

(क) अगर वर्षा बिलकुल ही न हो।

उत्तर: अगर वर्षा बिल्कुल न हो तो सूखा पड़ जाएगा। नदी-नाले सभी सूख जाएंगे। धरती का तल सूखने से सब चटक जाएगा। खेती भी नहीं होगी जिसके कारण खाने को अनाज नहीं मिलेगा।

(ख) अगर वर्षा बहुत अधिक हो।

उत्तर: अगर वर्षा बहुत अधिक होगी तो बाढ़ आ जाएगी। हर चीज़ पानी में बह जाएगी। जान और माल दोनों की हानि होगी।

(ग) अगर वर्षा बहुत ही कम हो।

उत्तर: अगर वर्षा बहुत कम होगी तो गर्मी व उमस रहेगी। पर्यावरण को हानि होगी। बहुत अच्छा अनाज नहीं होगा। कहीं-कहीं पानी की बहुत कमी भी हो सकती है।

(घ) वर्षा हो मगर आँधी-तूफ़ान के साथ हो।

उत्तर: वर्षा अगर आँधी तूफान के साथ होगी तो बहुत हानि होने की आशंका रहेगी। पेड़, मकान आदि का नुकसान हो सकता है और जान-माल दोनों की हानि होगी।

The poem, “ Ashadh ka Ek din” centers around the life of the poet ‘Kalidas’. This three-act play poem refers to a day during autumn. Dated around the period, 100 BC- 400 BC, the first act talks about the poet leading a very peaceful romantic life in a village in the Himalayas with Mallika. The poet is summoned by the great King Chandragupta II. This leads to a state of conflict as he has to choose between love and fame. Mallika encourages her love to go to Ujjaini and achieve the greatness he is bound to achieve.

The second act talks about the fact, what the great poet has achieved since moving to the court of King Chandragupta II. He has fame and a wife, a noble sophisticated woman, Priyangumanjari. This makes Mallika very heartbroken. When Kalidas visits his village with his wife, he avoids meeting Mallika though her wife does. Priyangumanjari, offered to help Mallika demeaningly to become a royal companion to the court and marry her to a royal attendant, though Mallika refused.

The title of the poem ‘Ashadh ka Ek din’ refers to a day in the rainy season. He talks about the farmers and how they wait the entire year for the rain. The poem also talks about various activities that take place during a day in the rainy season. Poet also compares the farmers to a chalk bird and uses a simile. He also talks about the falling rain, people preparing for the season, and happy farmers when they see rain. Just like their faces, the farms also start glowing due to rainwater.
