In a place called Nallamada in Andhra Pradesh, people don’t get clean water to drink. People have got used to drinking dirty water. When a visitor from the city visited Shaguna’s house, her father offered cold drinks instead of drinking water because the water was not clean. You can fall sick if the water is not fit for drinking. Shaguna and her family must take all precautions to drink clean and safe water. How do we make water fit for drinking? We must filter the water. If we don’t have measures to filter then just boiling the water for ten minutes will kill all the germs in the water. After cooling, you can drink the water. It becomes safe for drinking. 

In Bazaar Gaon in Maharashtra, there is a big water park. There are many rides in the park and children enjoy a lot. Rohan had gone to the water park with his parents. He was very happy to see so many water fountains and water rides. He just started to enjoy the rides when he heard some commotion sound outside the gate of the park. When he went there he saw some women wanted to take some water from the park because there was absolutely no water in the wells and the tanker also did not come to give water. There was a scarcity of water in their colony and so they wanted water from the park. It is very disheartening to see how we use water in the parks for our selfish reasons and there is scarcity of water in another corner of the city. Life without water comes to a complete halt. We should decide what is important, the park or people’s life. 

In the Cuffe Parade apartment in Mumbai, Pushpa went to Razia’s house to work along with her son Deepak. Razia was reading a newspaper and she told Pushpa that there is an article in the newspaper that says, the gutter water got mixed with drinking water pipes. Razia asked her to throw all the water that was filled the previous day. She told Pushpa to fill fresh water and boil it. She also told Pushpa to take some water home because dirty water will cause vomiting and diarrhea. 

What should we do if we vomit and have diarrhea? When we vomit or when we have diarrhea, we lose extra water from our body and we might get dehydrated. During this time we should drink a lot of water. We should boil water first and then cool it before drinking. We can also add a pinch of sugar and salt in the water.
