Text Representation and Summary

Pratipadaya - 'Bhaktin' is a famous memorial drawing of Mahadevi Ji, which is compiled in 'Lines of Memory'. In this, the writer Smt. Mahadevi Verma has introduced an interesting blueprint of her personality, introducing her servant Bhaktin's past and present. It explains how she lived a struggling, self-respecting and hard-working life before she started working at Mahadevi's house. It also tells how she fought for the rights of herself and her daughters in a society full of patriarchal beliefs and deceit, and changed the way of life entirely.

The writer says that Bhaktin's height was small and her body was lean. Her lips were thin. She wore a necklace around the neck. Her name was Lakshmi, but she pleaded with the writer not to use this name. Seeing her necklace, the writer named it 'Bhaktin'. She was similar to Hanuman in Seva Dharm.

It is known about her past that she was the only daughter of the famous Ahir of the historic village of Jhusi. Her stepmother brought her up. She was married to the son of a Gopalak of Handia village and was married at the age of nine.

In the third passage of life, misfortune did not leave her. Her daughter also became a widow. The family's eyes were on her property. Bhaktin surrounded the life of the writer. Bhaktin used to make tea for the hostel girls. She also let them taste the writer's breakfast. The last passage of Bhaktin is still not complete. The author does not want to finish it.

There are six conceptual questions at the end of the poem.
