How will the JEE Advanced 2024 Result be Figured Out?

The officials will create the 2024 JEE Advanced result using a specific process.

  • First, They will add the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics scores from Papers 1 and 2. So, if you got scores in Physics from both papers, they will add them together same goes for Chemistry and Maths.

  • Then, they will find the total scores for each candidate based on their marks in each subject.

  • Using these scores, they will rank the candidates for JEE Advanced 2024. Remember, to be considered for the common rank list (CRL), you need to take both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Facts About JEE Advanced Rank List (CRL)

Common Rank List or CRL is a ranking system based on the aggregate marks of each candidate. Here are a few considerations behind the preparation of this list.

  • Candidates who appear in only one paper out of two are not considered for this list.

  • The total marks for each subject are calculated after taking the scores from both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

  • Your place in the JEE Advanced merit list will be based on your aggregate marks which are the total marks obtained in all three subjects.

  • There is a tie-breaker system in place for individuals with the same marks.

  • There is a minimum eligibility marks limit. It varies with categories.

Tie-breaking Rule of JEE Advanced Rank List 2024

  • If two or more candidates get the same marks in the JEE Advanced exam, the authorities will use a specific rule to decide who gets higher ranks.

  • First, they'll check the positive marks in the IIT Advanced 2024 result. The one with higher positive marks will get a better rank.

  • If there's still a tie, they'll look at the marks in Mathematics. More marks in Mathematics mean a better rank.

  • If the tie remains, they'll consider the marks in Physics. More marks in Physics mean a better rank.

  • If, after all that, the tie still isn't broken, the candidates will be given the same rank in the JEE Advanced 2024 exam.

What Happens After the Results?

After a candidate has qualified based on his/her JEE Advanced result, he/she has to register for Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) Counselling. It is joint counselling for both JEE Advanced and Mains. The JEE Advanced results are expected to be declared on June 9, 2024. After the results are announced, the following things typically happen:

  • Rank List Release: The rank list, considering both Paper 1 and Paper 2 scores, will be published. Separate rank lists will be released for different categories after the final cut-offs are determined.

  • JoSAA Counselling: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling will begin. This is where candidates use their ranks to apply for seats in Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) (Careers360).

  • Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT): The AAT will be conducted on June 12 for candidates interested in B.Arch programs. The results for AAT will be declared on June 15.

Courses on Offer Include the Following:

  • B.Tech, B.Pharma, B.S (4 years)

  • B.Arch (5 years)

  • B.Tech- M.Tech Dual degree (5 years)

  • Integrated Masters (5 years)

The entire process from the declaration of results to admissions is expected to take around 2 months. Use that time prudently. Prepare well for the process and land a place at your dream institution.

JEE Advanced 2024 Counselling

If you're aiming for IIT admission after clearing JEE (Advanced) 2024 and filling out your choices, it's important to know that it's not a sure thing. Your admission depends on your merit and if there are open spots when they allocate seats. This process is handled by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2024.

JoSAA 2024, organized by the Ministry of Education (previously known as the Ministry of Human Resources Development), manages seat allocation for 114 institutes for the 2024-23 academic year. This includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 33 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). All admissions to these institutes' programs happen through a single platform.
