Facts About JEE Advanced Rank List (CRL)
Common Rank List or CRL is a ranking system based on the aggregate marks of each candidate. Here are a few considerations behind the preparation of this list.
Candidates who appear in only one paper out of two are not considered for this list.
The total marks for each subject are calculated after taking the scores from both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Your place in the JEE Advanced merit list will be based on your aggregate marks which are the total marks obtained in all three subjects.
There is a tie-breaker system in place for individuals with the same marks.
There is a minimum eligibility marks limit. It varies with categories.
Tiebreaker Policy
Due to the massive number of students taking this test, there is always a possibility of two or more students obtaining the same aggregate marks. In such situations, there is a tiebreaker policy in place used to assign ranks on the JEE Advanced rank list.
The candidate who has obtained higher marks in Mathematics will be awarded a higher rank.
In case there is still a tie, the marks for Physics will be taken into consideration. Candidates scoring higher marks here are awarded a higher rank.
If the tie is still unbroken, both candidates will receive the same rank.
Minimum Eligibility Marks
To secure a place in the JEE Advanced merit list, a candidate has to obtain a minimum score in each subject as well as in aggregate. It varies from category to category. You can explore our website and find the complete list of minimum eligibility marks required to get admission to IIT.
What Happens after the Results?
After a candidate has qualified based on his/her JEE Advanced result, he/she has to register for Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) Counselling. It is joint counselling for both JEE Advanced and Mains. The seat allotment will start tentatively from 12th September 2023.
Registering for JoSAA is also an online process. You have to fill out a detailed form which contains, among other things, the name of the course and the institutions that you would like to apply for. Each IIT announces its cut-off marks beforehand, and candidates are encouraged to check that before filling out their JoSAA forms.
However, one must note that clearing the cut-off marks does not guarantee admission. Admission is based on the availability of seats in the institution after various rounds of selection.
Courses on Offer Include the Following:
B.Tech, B.Pharma, B.S (4 years)
B.Arch (5 years)
B.Tech- M.Tech Dual degree (5 years)
Integrated Masters (5 years)
The entire process from the declaration of results to admissions is expected to take around 2 months. Use that time prudently. Prepare well for the process and land a place at your dream institution.
