उत्तर: हमारे यहाँ बहुत से काम लोग खुद नहीं करके किसी पेशेवर कारीगर से करवाते हैं। लेकिन गांधी जी पेशेवर कारीगरों के उपयोग में आनेवाले औजारों- छेनी, हथौड़े, बसूले इत्यादि इसीलिए खरीदना चाहते थे, क्योंकि वे अहमदाबाद में एक आश्रम की स्थापना कर रहे थे। वहाँ अनेक लोगों के आने की संभावना थी। कुछ एकल और कुछ अपने परिवार के साथ, वहाँ आने की संभावना थी। गांधी जी इन औजारों को उन्हीं लोगों के लिए खरीदना चाहते थे। जिससे अगर कोई व्यक्ति कारीगरी जानता हो, तो वह आत्मनिर्भरता के साथ अपनी जीविका का निर्वाह कर सके।

प्रश्न2. गांधी जी ने अखिल भारतीय कांग्रेस सहित कई संस्थाओं व आंदोलनों के नेतृत्व किया। उनकी जीवनी या उनपर लिखी गई किताबों से उन अंशों को चुनिए जिनसे हिसाब-किताब के प्रति गाँधी जी की चुस्ती का पता चलता है।

उत्तर: गांधी जी के ऊपर लिखी गई किताबों से ज्ञात होता है, कि गांधी जी बचपन से ही वक़्त और हिसाब के पाबंद रहें हैं। बचपन में पैसे बचाने के लिए, वे मीलों दूर पैदल जाते थे। वे मानते थे, कि पैसा केवल जरूरत के समय खर्च करना चाहिए। इस पाठ में गांधी जी द्वारा आश्रम में लाने वाली वस्तुओं के बारे में जानकारी और व्यय के प्रति जागरूकता, उनकी हिसाब-किताब के प्रति चुस्ती को दिखाती है।

प्रश्न3. मान लीजिए, आपको कोई बाल आश्रम खोलना है। इस बजट से प्रेरणा लेते हुए उसका अनुमानित बजट बनाइए। इस बजट में दिए गए किन- किन मदों पर आप कितना खर्च करना चाहेंगे। किन नयी मदों को जोड़ना- हटाना चाहेंगे?

उत्तर: एक बाल आश्रम खोलने के लिए विविध और विभिन्न साधनों की आवश्यकता होगी। अगर बाल आश्रम में पच्चीस बच्चें हैं। उनके लिए पाँच कक्ष होने अनिवार्य हैं। दो सोने के कक्ष, पुस्तकालय कक्ष, स्नान कक्ष, खेलने का कक्ष। रसोईघर में मुख्यतः बड़े बर्तनों का इस्तेमाल करना चाहिए। जैसे बड़ा पतीला, कढ़ाई, छोटे पतीले, तीस थालियाँ और साठ कटोरियाँ इत्यादि। बच्चों की आयु के अनुसार, उन्हें पौषक तत्व देने वाले खाद्य पदार्थ देने चाहिए। मुख्यतः एक महीने में तीस हजार रुपये खर्च  होंगे।

प्रश्न4. आपको कई बार लगता होगा कि आप कई छोटे-मोटे काम (जैसे- घर की पुताई, दूध दुहना, खाट बुनना) करना चाहें तो कर सकते हैं। ऐसे कामों की सूची बनाइए, जिन्हें आप चाहकर भी नहीं सिख पाते। इसके क्या कारण रहे होंगे? उन कामों की सूची भी बनाइए, जिन्हें आप सीखकर ही छोड़ेंगे।

उत्तर: हमारे आसपास कई ऐसे छोटे काम हैं, जो हम खुद कर सकते हैं। लेकिन हम उन कामों को पेशेवरों से करवाते हैं। जैसे की पुताई करना, सिलाई का काम, धोबी का काम, खाट बुनना इत्यादि। ऐसे अनेक काम हैं, जो हम सीखना चाहते हैं, जैसे सिलाई का काम, जूता मरम्मत और पुताई करना आदि का कार्य है। किंतु इन कार्यों को सिखानेवालों के अभाव स्वरूप, हम ये कार्य सीख नहीं पाते हैं।  मुझे सिलाई का काम सिखने कि बड़ी चाह है और वक्त मिला तो मैं सिलाई जरूर सीखूंगी।

प्रश्न5. इस अनुमानित बजट को गहराई से पढ़ने के बाद आश्रम के उद्देश्यों और कार्यप्रणाली के बारे में क्या-क्या अनुमान लगाए जा सकते हैं?

उत्तर: इस पाठ को पढ़ने के उपरांत यह समझ में आया, कि इस आश्रम का उद्देश्य कुटीर उद्योग को बढ़ावा देना है। यह लोगों को स्वावलंबी  बनाने की एक राह है। जिसकी शुरुआत गांधी जी द्वारा की गई थी। इसीलिए उन्होंने स्वाधीन आंदोलनों में, चरखे से कपड़ा बुनकर, स्वदेशी पहचान और अस्मिता को संजोकर रखा। उनके द्वारा आश्रम की स्थापना सामाजिक सौहृदय और एकता की झलक दिखाता है।

प्रश्न1. अनुमानित शब्द अनुमान में इत प्रत्यय जोड़कर बना है। इत प्रत्यय जोड़ने पर अनुमान का न नित में परिवर्तित हो जाता है। नीचे-इत प्रत्यय वाले कुछ और शब्द लिखे हैं। उनमें मूल शब्द पहचानिए और देखिए कि क्या परिवर्तन हो रहा है-

इत प्रत्यय की भांति इक प्रत्यय से भी शब्द बनते हैं और तब शब्द के पहले अक्षर में भी परिवर्तन हो जाता है, जैसे- सप्ताह+इक= साप्ताहिक। नीचे इक प्रत्यय से बनाए गए शब्द दिए गए हैं। इनमें मूल शब्द पहचानिए और देखिए कि क्या परिवर्तन हो रहा है-
