अभ्यास:

1. यशोधर बाबू की पत्नी समय के साथ ढल सकने में सफल होती है लेकिन यशोधर बाबू असफल रहते हैं। ऐसा क्यों?

उत्तर: यशोधर बाबू के माता पिता का देहांत बचपन में ही हो गया था, इसलिए वह बचपन से ही ज़िम्मेदारियों के बोझ तले दबे थे। वह बचपन में अपनी उम्र के बच्चों के साथ नहीं बल्कि बड़े बुज़ुर्गों के साथ रहते थे।पले बढ़े अत: वह उन परंपराओं को छोड़ नहीं सकते थे। यशोधर बाबू अपने आदर्श किशन दा से अधिक प्रभावित है और आधुनिक परिवेश में बदलते हुए जीवन मूल्यों और संस्कारों के विरुद्ध है। जबकि उनकी पत्नी अपने बच्चों के साथ खड़ी दिखाई देती है वह अपने बच्चों के आधुनिक दृष्टिकोण से प्रभावित है। वे बेटी के कहे अनुसार नए कपड़े पहनती है। वह अपने बेटों की जीवन में कोई ताँक-झाँक नहीं करती। यशोधर बाबू की पत्नी आज की आधुनिकता के हिसाब से रहती है और समय में परिवर्तन होता देख ख़ुद में भी परिवर्तन लाने का प्रयास करती है परंतु यशोधर बाबू भी पुराने रीति रिवाज़ों में बंधकर रहते हैं।

2. पाठ में ‘जो हुआ होगा’ वाक्य कि आप कितनी अर्थ छवियां खोज सकते/सकती है? 

उत्तर: ‘जो हुआ होगा’ वाक्य पाठ में पहली बार तब आता है, जब यशोधर बाबू किशनदा के जाति भाई से उनकी मृत्यु का कारण पूछते हैं।  उत्तर में उन्होंने कहा 'जो हुआ होगा 'यानी पता नहीं | फिर यशोधर बाबू यही विचार करते हैं कि उनके बाल बच्चे ही नहीं होते, वे व्यक्ति अकेलेपन के कारण स्वस्थ दिखने के बाद भी बीमार -से हो जाते हैं और उनकी मृत्यु हो जाती है। यह भी कारण हो सकता है कि उनकी बिरादरी से घोर उपेक्षा मिली, इस कारण उनकी मृत्यु अपने अनंत दुखों के कारण हुई। किशनदा की मौत क्यों हुई इसके पीछे का सही कारण नहीं पता चला।यशोधर बाबू हमेशा इसी सोच में रहते कि आख़िर किशनदा की मौत कैसे और क्यों हुई?जिसका उत्तर किसी के पास नहीं था।

3. ‘समहाउ इंप्रापर’ वाक्यांश का प्रयोग यशोधर बाबू लगभग हर वाक्य के प्रारंभ में तकिया  कलाम की तरह करते है। इस वाक्यांश का उनके व्यिक्तत्व और कहानी के कथ्य सेक्या संबंध बनता है?

उत्तर: यशोधर बाबू अपनी हर बात की शुरुआत में ‘समहाउ इंप्रापर’ शब्द का प्रयोग किया करते हैं।यशोधर बाबू को जब कोई बात उचित नही लगती तब वह इस वाक्य को बोलते हैं।

• साधारण पुत्र को असाधारण वेतन मिलने पर 

• स्कूटर की सवारी पर 

• दफ्तर में सिल्वर वेडिंग 

• छोटे साले के ओछेपन पर

• खुशहाली में रिश्तेदारों की उपेक्षा करने पर 

• केक काटने की विदेशी परंपरा आदि

इस संदर्भ से यह पता चलता है यशोधर बाबू सिद्धांतों को मानने वाले व्यक्ति है। यशोधर बाबू आधुनिकता के समर्थक नहीं है बल्कि उनका मानना है कि आधुनिकता के कारण हमारी संस्कृतियाँ नष्ट होती जा रही है।

4. यशोधर बाबू की कहानी को दिशा देने में चंदा की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रही है। आपके जीवन को दिशा देने में किस का महत्वपूर्ण योगदान रहा और  कैसे? 

उत्तर: जिस प्रकार से किशनदा का प्रभाव यशोधर बाबू पर पड़ा है किशनदा की एक महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रही है यशोधर बाबू के जीवन में उसी प्रकार हर विद्यार्थी के जीवन में किसी ना किसी शख्स का प्रभाव रहता है मेरे जीवन को दिशा देने में मेरी बड़ी बहन की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रही है। वे पढ़ाई लिखाई, खेलकूद सभी में हमेशा आगे रहती थी। उन्हें देखकर मुझे भी आगे बढ़ने की प्रेरणा मिलती थी। मैं समय-समय पर मुझे मार्गदर्शन भी देती रही।

5. वर्तमान समय में परिवार की संरचना, स्वरूप से जुड़े आपके अनुभव इस कहानी से कहीं तक सामंजस्य बैठा पाते हैं? 

उत्तर: किशनदा  की कहानी आज लगभग हर परिवार में कहीं ना कहीं मौजूद है आजकल के समय पर लोग संयुक्त परिवार में नहीं रहती। संयुक्त परिवार जैसे विलुप्त ही होते जा रहा है। नई पीढ़ी पुरानी पीढ़ी से एकदम अलग विचारों वाली है। जिससे पुरानी पीढ़ी और नई पीढ़ी की विचारों में टकराव उत्पन्न होते हैं | यशोधर बाबू की तरह ही विचारधारा रखने वाले पिता कहीं ना कहीं मौजूद है। सभी माताएं अपने बच्चों के साथ बदल जाती है लेकिन पिता का बदलना कहीं ना कहीं बहुत मुश्किल होता है। आज की पीढ़ी फैशन से भरी पड़ी है दिखावा उनमें कूट-कूट कर भरा है। पश्चिमी जीवनशैली का रूप अपनाते जा रहे हैं। उनके कपड़े पहनने का ढंग तौर तरीके लगभग सभी सभी चीजों का प्रभाव आज की पीढ़ी पर पड़ चुका है। यह कहानी सिर्फ यशोधर बाबू की ही कहानी नहीं समाज में हर घर की कहानी है जहां आज भी पुराने खयालात के लोग मौजूद है।

6. निम्नलिखित में से किसे आप कहानी का मूल संवेदना कहेंगे/ कहेंगी और क्यों? 

(1) हाशिए पर धकेले जाते मानवीय मूल्य 

(2) पीढ़ी का अंतराल 

(3) पाश्चात्य संस्कृति का प्रभाव

उत्तर:  इस कहानी में मानवीय मूल्यों, भाईचारा, रिश्तेदारी, बुजुर्गों का सम्मान आदि को हाशिए पर दिखाया गया है। यशोधर पुरानी परंपरा के व्यक्ति है, जबकि उनके बच्चे पाश्चात्य संस्कृति से प्रभावित है वे ‘सिल्वर वेडिंग’ जैसी  पाश्चात्य परंपरा का निर्वाह करते हैं। इन सब के बावजूद यह कहानी पीढ़ी के अंतराल को स्पष्ट करती है। यशोधर बाबू स्वयं पीढ़ी के अंतराल को स्वीकार करते हैं। वे मानते हैं कि दुनियादारी के मामले में उनकी संतान व पत्नी उनसे आगे है। वह पुराने आदर्शों व मूल्यों से जुड़े हुए हैं। ऑफिस में भी वह कर्मचारियों के साथ ऐसे ही संबंध बनाए हुए हैं। उन्हें अपनी बीवी वह बच्चों का रहन सहन भी समझ नहीं आता है। रेट जिस सामाजिक मूल्यों को बचाना चाहते हैं नई पीढ़ी उनका पुरजोर विरोध करती है। नई पीढ़ी पुरानी सादगी फटेहाली  मानती है।  वह रिश्तेदारी निभाने को घाटे का सौदा बताती है। इन्हीं सब मूल्यों से प्रभावित होकर यशोधर बाबू का बेटा पिता के लिए नया गाउन लाता है ताकि फटे पुलोवर से उसे शर्मिंदा ना होना पड़े। अतः यह कहानी पीढ़ी अंतराल की कहानी है और यही कहानी की मूल संवेदना है।

7.अपने घर और विद्यालय के आस-पास हो रहे उन बदलावों के बारे में लिखे जो सुविधाजनक और आधुनिक होते हुए भी बुजुर्गों को अच्छे नहीं लगते। अच्छा ना लगने के क्या कारण होंगे? 

उत्तर:  हमारे घर और विद्यालय के आस-पास हो रहे निम्नलिखित बदलाव है:

(1) परिवर्तन प्रकृति का नियम है। बदलना ही समय की पहचान है। आज घर का परिवेश बिल्कुल बदल चुका है। एकल परिवार प्रणाली प्रचलन में आ चुकी है यद्यपि यह सुविधाजनक है किंतु इसके बुरे परिणाम भी सामने आ रहे हैं। लोगों में असुरक्षा की भावना बढ़ती है 

(2) शहरी जीवन में स्त्री-पुरुष संबंधों में खुलापन आया है साथ ही रहन सहन, वेशभूषा में भी बदलाव हुआ है लेकिन यह रूप बुजुर्गों को बिल्कुल भी पसंद नहीं आ रहा है। 

(3) बच्चे मैदानों की जगह घरों में रहकर फोन पर गेम खेलते हैं जिससे बुजुर्ग बिल्कुल सहमत नहीं है 

(4) घर का खाना खाने की जगह आज लोग होटल का खाना खाते हैं बुजुर्गों का यह मानना है यह सब खाना सेहत के लिए अच्छा नहीं होता बुजुर्ग इनका विरोध करते हैं|

(5) आधुनिकता के नाम पर पाश्चात्य संस्कृति का खुलकर समर्थन किया जा रहा है। संस्कार और मर्यादा का परित्याग किया जा रहा है।

(6) इंसानी रिश्ते स्वार्थ पर आधारित होते जा रहे हैं।   

8. यशोधर बाबू के बारे में आप की क्या धारणा बनती है? दिए गए 3 कथनों में से आप जिसके समर्थन मैं है, अपने अनुभवों और सोच के आधार पर उनके लिए तर्क दीजिए:

(1) यशोधर बाबू के विचार पूरी तरह से पुराने हैं और वह सहानुभूति के पात्र नहीं है। 

(2) यशोधर बाबू में एक तरह का द्वंद्व है जिसके कारण नया उन्हें कभी-कभी खींचता तो है पर पुराना छोड़ता नहीं। इसलिए उन्हें सहानुभूति के साथ देखने की जरूरत है। 

(3) यशोधर बाबू एक आदर्श व्यक्तित्व है और नई पीढ़ी द्वारा उनके विचारों का अपनाना ही उचित है। 

उत्तर: प्रस्तुत कथन में यशोधर बाबू में एक तरह का द्वंद्व है जिसके कारण नया उन्हें कभी-कभी खींचता तो है पर पुराना छोड़ता नहीं। इसलिए उन्हें सहानुभूति के साथ देखने की जरूरत है यह बातें कहानी पढ़ने के बाद यशोधर बाबू पर पूर्णत: लागू होती है।  वह पुरानी सोच के व्यक्ति है। समाज के पुराने मूल्यों और परंपराओं को बचा कर रखना चाहते हैं लेकिन कभी-कभी नए के साथ जोड़ने की कोशिश भी करते हैं। वे अपने बच्चों की तरक्की से खुश है हालांकि उनकी उपेक्षा का शिकार होने पर दुखी भी होते हैं। उन्हें टीवी, फ्रिज,रसोई गैस जैसी आधुनिक चीजें पसंद नहीं है पर इस बात से खुश होते हैं कि इन चीजों के होने से लोग उन्हें संपन्न समझते हैं। उन्हें अपनी पत्नी और बेटी द्वारा पाश्चात्य संस्कृति से प्रेरित कपड़े पहनना पसंद नहीं है लेकिन अंग्रेजी बोलकर मेहमानों का स्वागत करते हुए यह जताना चाहते हैं कि वह विलायती रीति रिवाज से अपरिचित नहीं है। उन्हें सिल्वर वेडिंग जैसी पार्टी विदेशी संस्कृति का प्रभाव लगती है पर वह इस बात पर खुश है कि जो यशोधर गरीबी के कारण अपनी शादी भी धूमधाम से नहीं कर सके थे, आज उनकी शादी की २५ वी सालगिरह पर कई तरह की मिठाइयां, नमकीन और कोल्डड्रिंक उपलब्ध है। ऐसे व्यक्तियों के साथ सहानुभूति पूर्ण व्यवहार जरूरी है।

Chapter 1: Silver Wedding, Written by Manohar Shyam Joshi

Chapter 1 Silver Wedding is a long story written by Shri Manohar Shyam Joshi. In the story, the author presents a contradiction between society moving towards modernity and the age-old values ​of a man. Both of these sentiments are conflicting. Yashodhar Babu is the main character of the story. So the story’s protagonist is in a state of indecision.

This long story looks somewhat different from the author's other compositions. Moving towards modernity, our society, on the one hand, has many new achievements and on the other hand, the values ​​that keep a human being, human have been lost somewhere.

The two sentences of what must have happened and the Samhau Impar are the seed sentences of this story. In what would have happened, there is a sense of acceptance of the status quo. Then there is a situation of indecision in Samhau Impar. Both these expressions are the inner duality of Yashodhar Babu, the main character of this story. They do not hold anyone responsible for these situations. They are in a state of indecision.

He becomes happy with his children’s progress, parallel to that he also experiences the feeling of alienation in itself because day by day the moral values are declining in the family culture.
