In NCERT Class 7 Hindi Vasant Chapter 2, the author beautifully narrates the close bond that he had with his grandmother. The author's grandmother was an idol of love, affection, and kindness. This story is dedicated to the love and support of his Dadee Maa. The author explains how his grandmother used to be like a shadow to him in every difficult phase of his life as well as of the entire family. The author shares beautiful memories from his past which he has shared with his grandmother.

The author mentions how his grandmother got excited when she heard the news of his elder brother’s wedding. He also tells us how his grandmother was depressed after the death of his grandfather and remained quiet most of the time. She was also equally troubled due to the deceitful well-wishers of the family. The author in this chapter describes one evening when after taking a bath in the bitterly cold weather of Magh, his grandmother wore a wet dhoti and was sitting with folded hands while lighting a lamp on the box. The author could not stop himself after seeing the tears in her eyes and asked his Dadee Maa the reason she was crying. She then took him to the kitchen to feed him with a smile and lovingly dragged him to give him a hug. The next day the author saw his grandmother taking out the gold bracelets from the box and giving them to his father so that he could repay the debt he took during his grandfather’s shraddh. 

At the end, after remembering all the memories that he had spend with his Dadee Maa, the author saw the letter in his hands. His hands were still trembling while he held the letter that was written by his elder brother. He could not believe that his beloved grandmother was really no more.

कहानी से 

1.लेखक को अपनी दादी माँ की याद के साथ-साथ बचपन की और किन-किन बातों की याद आ जाती है?

उत्तर: लेखक को दादी माँ की याद के साथ - साथ अपने बचपन की स्मृतियाँ  जैसे किनारों पर    झाग भरे जलाशयों में कूदना , बीमार होने पर दादी का दिन - रात ख्याल रखना, किशन भैया की शादी पर औरतों  द्वारा गीत व अभिनय के समय पकड़े जाने पर दादी माँ का उनका पक्ष लेना , दादी माँ के द्वारा रामी चाची की आर्थिक मदद करना और उनका हर काम में उपस्थित होना याद आ जाता है | 

2. दादा की मृत्यु के बाद लेखक के घर की आर्थिक स्थिति खराब क्यों हो गई थी?

उत्तर: दादाजी की मृत्यु के बाद लेखक के पिताजी ने संपत्ति का सही उपयोग नहीं किया था | दादाजी के श्राद्ध में दादी माँ के मना करने पर भी लेखक के पिताजी ने अतुल संपत्ति व्यय की जो घर की संपत्ति नहीं थी | इसी कारण से उनके घर स्थिति ख़राब हो गयी | 

3.दादी माँ के स्वभाव का कौन सा पक्ष आपको सबसे अच्छा लगता है और क्यों ?

उत्तर: दादी माँ का सरल एवं दयालु स्वभाव हमें अच्छा लगता है | दादी माँ वाणी से भले ही कठोर थी परंतु घर के सदस्यों एवं दूसरों की आर्थिक मदद के लिए हमेशा तैयार रहती थी | रामी चाची का क़र्ज़ माफ़ कर उसे दस रुपये भी दिए ताकि उसकी बेटी के विवाह में किसी भी तरह की रूकावट नहीं आये | घरवालों की आर्थिक सहायता हेतु दादी माँ ने दादाजी के दिए हुए कंगन भी उन्हें दे दिए थे | इन्ही कारणों से हमे दादी माँ का यह स्वाभाव अच्छा लगता है | 

कहानी से आगे 

1.आपने इस कहानी में महीनों के नाम पढ़े. जैसे- क्वार , आषाढ़,

माघ। इन महीनों में मौसम कैसा रहता है, लिखिए ।

उत्तर:

1.क्वार - इस महीने गर्मी और सर्दी दोनों ही कम होती है |

2.आषाढ़ - यह महीना वर्षा का होता है और अगर वर्षा न हो तो गर्मी बढ़ जाती है |

3.माद्य - इस महीने बहुत अधिक सर्दी होती है |  

2.'अपने-अपने मौसम की अपनी-अपनी बातें होती हैं '-लेखक के इस कथन के अनुसार यह बताइए कि  किस मौसम में कौन-कौन सी चीज़ें वशेष रूप से मिलती है? 

उत्तर: क्वार के महीने में तरबूज , खरबूज, खालसे और लीची मिलते है |आषाढ़ के महीने में आड़ ,जामुन , चेरी और खीरा मिलते है|माघ के महीने में  केले ,संतरे,कीवी और गुड़ मिलते है |

अनुमान और कल्पना 

1.इस कहानी में कई बार ऋण लेने की बात आपने पढ़ी। अनुमान लगाइए, किन-किन पारिवारिक परिस्थितियों में गाँव के लोगों को ऋण लेना पड़ता होगा और यह उन्हें कहाँ से मिलता होगा? बड़ों से बातचीत कर इस विषय में लिखिए।

उत्तर: गाँव के लोगों को शादी - विवाह के खर्च के लिए , खेती - बाड़ी करने के लिए , बच्चों की पढ़ाई के लिए , मकान /ज़मीन खरीदने या बनवाने के लिए , आदि के लिए ऋण लेना पड़ता है | यह ऋण उन्हें ज़मींदारो , बैंकों एवं गाँव के साहूकार से मिलता है | 

2. घर पर होने वाले उत्सवों/समारोहों में बच्चे क्या-क्या करते हैं? अपने और अपने मित्रों के अनुभवों के आधार पर लिखिए। 

उत्तर: घर पर होने वाले उत्सवों/समारोहों में बच्चे घर की सजावट करते हैं , घर में ख़ुशी का माहौल बनाते हैं , नए कपड़े पहनकर खूब मस्ती करते हैं और व्यंजनों का आनंद लेते हैं |

2.कहानी में छू-छूकर ज्वर का अनुमान करतीं, पूछ-पूछकर घरवालों को परेशान कर देतीं’-जैसे वाक्य आए हैं। किसी क्रिया को जोर देकर कहने के लिए एक से अधिक बार एक ही शब्द का प्रयोग होता है। जैसे वहाँ थक गया, उन्हें ढूंढ-ढूँढ़कर देख लिया। इस प्रकार के पाँच वाक्य बनाइए।
