About COEP

College of Engineering Pune (CoEP) is an autonomous institute in Pune, Maharashtra which was founded in 1854. The Institute is affiliated with the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). CoEP offers research programmes at the B.Tech, M.Tech, PG Diploma, and PhD levels. CoEP Admissions 2023 

Admissions for B.Tech students enrolling in the first year of the programme are centralized at CoEP. CoEP offers nine undergraduate, twenty-four graduate, and doctoral degrees, as well as four postgraduate diploma courses in management, engineering, and technology. Admission in CoEP will be made through the Maharashtra Entrance Test (MHT-CET), the results of which are compulsory.


The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, Mumbai, conducts the MH CET, a state-level common entrance examination. The examination will be held to shortlist candidates for admission to various UG courses in Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture, and other fields. MH CET 2023 will be held from 11th to 16th June 2023 for PCM Group and 17th to 23rd June 2023 for PCB Group.


How to Apply for MH CET?

Here are the steps to apply for MH CET:

  • Go to www.mahacet.org and look for the MH-CET link on the left.

  • Select New Registration.

  • After receiving an OTP on the registered mobile number, set up your email address and password.

  • Fill in the required information and submit it to generate the application form.

  • You will be redirected to an acknowledgements page; check the box to start filling out your application.

  • After filling out all relevant and authentic information, re-read the application and submit it by uploading a photograph and the application fee.

  • You will receive a confirmation email to your registered email address.

  • Print both the application and the fee receipt for future reference.


CoEP Admissions 2023: Eligibility Criteria

Here is the list of eligibility criteria for admission to the College of Engineering, Pune for the year 2023:

  • The candidate must be an Indian national.

  • Should have completed HSC or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

  • The overall percentage for the General category is 55%, and the overall percentage for the Reserved category is 50%.

  • For admission, students must qualify and submit the scores of MHT-CET.

1. How many marks are required to get admission in COEP?

In order to get admission in COEP you need to score 150 marks in MHT CET in general order.  According to the changes MHT CET position is raised to JEE Main and 20 weightage will be from 11th class and 80 from 12th class. There will be no negative marking as well.

Also, the eligibility criteria to take admission in COEP is that Seeker must have passed HSC/ original test with Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects with any one of the subjects Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical/ Vocational subjects. Seeker must have secured a minimum of 50 (for General order) and 45 (for Reserved Category) marks. 

 

To get admission in COEP, you'll have to crack MHT CET and to apply for the same candidates should have secured a minimum of 50 marks (for General Category) and at least 45 marks (for reserved order and Persons with Disability candidates) belonging to Maharashtra State only) as there's no other 12th chance needed as the admissions are fully grounded on MHT CET rank. 

3. Which college is better for B.tech in Mechanical Engineering : VJTI or COEP?

COEP was established in 1854 and VJTI was established in 1887. Both are the oldest institutes in Asia. Both are governments. Autonomous institutes. Course format and material are nearly the same. Borderline differences are there in the syllabus. The lot of COEP is bigger and more advanced as compared to VJTI. Further installations and hotels available both for boys and girls. VJTI being in the heart of Mumbai megacity, there's a deficit of hotels, which is being worked upon. In terms of infra, COEP is superior. Placement statistics are veritably important satisfactory in both sodalitiesI.e. nearly 100 in all the branches. 

4. Which of these is better: B.tech in Electrical Engineering from VJTI or B.tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from COEP ?

These two sodalities are veritably good for their branches and for the fantastic placement. Talking about VJTI, it has a bad structure. Any other private council is still better than this council. Smaller installations are handled and the students 'labs in this council are also not advanced. Food in the canteen is good, and there's a deficit of hotel apartments so this council is bad in terms of overall structure.   On the other side, COEP has got a veritably good and big lot, all the installations are handed to the students. Labs and outfit are advanced, well classrooms, and the major thing is this council has a veritably good hotel for boys as well as girls.  The crowd is veritably good in both the sodalities, numerous students share in artistic conditioning and specialized events. 

 

The experience with faculty is veritably good in both the sodalities. They're well educated and largely educated members. For electronics and telecommunication engineering, COEP is stylish as compared to VJTI as it has a good placement. And, electrical engineering from VJTI is also veritably good. 

5. I am in the 1st year of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering but I want to do Marine Engineering. Can I ?

The Indian Maritime University is a central university that was established by the Government of India for conducting quality education in the maritime field. It has an Each-India governance and the headquarters is in Chennai. It has premises at Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Cochin. University conducts degree and post graduate courses in Navigational Science, Marine Engineering, Ship structure and International Transportation and Logistics Management. A lot of private sodalities are combined to IMU. IMU conducts its own entrance videlicet All India Common Entrance Test. You may appear in the CET coming time to pursue marine engineering.
