JEE Main Syllabus by NTA

JEE Main has 3 different types of papers for various courses. Students have to choose the papers based on the course that they wanted to get into.

Paper Type 1 – For admission to B. Tech/B.E.

Paper Type 2 – For admission to B. Arch.

Paper Type 3 – For admission in B. Planning.

JEE Main Paper Type 1 has Three Sections in it.

Exam Pattern of JEE Main Paper Type-1

Knowing about the exam pattern will help the candidates in their preparation as they will get to know what type of questions will be asked in the examination. Here is the JEE Main Paper Type-1 examination pattern:

Mode of Examination – Online (Computer-based)

Duration of Examination – 3 hours

Subjects – Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics

Maximum Number of Questions – 25 Maths questions + 25 Physics questions  + 25 Chemistry questions = 75 questions

Types of Questions – 

  1. Physics: 5 numerical-based questions and 20 MCQs

  2. Chemistry: 5 numerical-based questions and 20 MCQs

  3. Mathematics: 5 numerical-based questions and 20 MCQs

Total Marks – 300 marks

Syllabus for JEE Main Paper Type-2 and Type-3

Section 1:

Visualizing different sides of 3-D objects. Analytical Reasoning Mental Ability (Numerical, visual and verbal). Awareness of places, buildings, persons and materials. Visualizing 3-D objects from 2-D drawings. Texture related to build-environment and architecture.

Section 2:

Creating 2-D and 3-D compositions using given firms and shapes. Transformation of forms both 2-D and 3-D union, rotation, subtraction, development of surfaces and volumes. Generation of plan, elevations and 3-D view of objects. Drawing and design of abstract or geometrical shapes and patterns in pencil. 3-D perception – Appreciation and understanding of scale and proportion of objects, building elements and forms, harmony, contrast and colour texture.

Sketching of activities and scenes from the memory of urban landscape (market, festival, public place, streets, recreational spaces, monuments, etc) landscape (trees, jungles, rivers, plants, etc) and rural life.

JEE Main Paper Type-2 and Type-3 Exam Pattern

Mode of Examination – Online (Computer-based)

Duration of Examination – 3 hours

Subjects – Drawing (B. Arch.) or Planning (B. Plan.), General Aptitude and Mathematics

Maximum Number of Questions – 

  1. B. Arch.: 2 Drawing questions + 50 Aptitude questions + 25 Maths questions = 77 questions

  2. B. Plan.: 25 Planning questions + 25 Maths questions + 50 questions = 100 questions

Types of Questions:

  1. Maths: 5 Numerical-based questions and 20 MCQs

  2. Aptitude: 50 MCQs

  3. B. Arch.: 2 Drawing questions

  4. B. Plan.: 25 MCQs for Planning
