• उनका पूरा नाम मणि शंकर मुखर्जी है ।

• उनका जन्म 7 दिसंबर 1933 को पश्चिम बंगाल मे हुआ था ।

• वे लेखक होने के साथ-साथ एक उपन्यासकार भी हैं l

कहानी का सारांशः

• प्रस्तुत कहानी मे लेखक ने अपने बचपन के दिन का वर्णन किया है।

• लेखक कहते है कि बचपन मे उन्होंने एक साँप को नारियल के खोल मे जाते हुए देखा।

• लेखक ने पत्थर का टुकड़ा लगाकर खोल को बंद कर दिया और अपनी नानी के पास गए I

• जब नानी को पता चला तो वह चिल्लाने लगी और नाना दौडते हुए बाहर आए l

• नाना ने तुरंत लेखक के हाथ से नारियल छीन कर फेंक दिया और कहा कि साँप बहुत खतरनाक होते है। इनके पास नहीं जाना चाहिए ।

• इसके कुछ समय बाद ही लेखक एक बर्र को पकड़ने की कोशिश करने लगे ।इस कारण बर्र ने उन्हें काट लिया । जिससे लेखक को बहुत दर्द होने लगा।

• नानी ने सोचा कि साँप ने कांट लिया है । नाना ने तुरंत लेखक को गोद मे ले लिया।

• बाग और धान के खेतो को पार करके वह झोपड़ी मे पहुँचे जहा एक बूढा आदमी खडा  था l

• बूढ़ा आदमी लेखक को अंदर ले गया और पीतल के बर्तन मे पानी लेकर मंत्र पढने लगा l

• कुछ समय बाद लेखक का दर्द ठीक हो गया।

• बूढ़े आदमी ने अपनी ऊँगली पानी मे धोई और लेखक को पानी पीने को दिया और कहा अब तुम खतरे से बाहर हो ।

• सभी लोगो ने उस आदमी को धन्यवाद दिया I नाना ने उसे बहुत सारे उपहार भी दिए ।
