This story is about a housefly who became arrogant and got caught in a spider’s web. There are other characters which include an elephant, lion, and fox. 

  • Chapter 3: Chandwali Amma 

This prose is a narrative about the fairy tales told to children about the old woman who climbed the moon. It mentions the naughty sky and how it used to play a prank on Amma. 

  • Chapter 4: Mann Karta Hai

This is a poem by Surendra Vikram who wishes about all the things he could be. The poet wishes he was the moon, the sun, his father, father grandfather, a bird, a butterfly, and mostly a boy who flies a colourful kite. 

  • Chapter 5: Bahadur Bitto 

Bahadur Bitto is a popular folk tale from Punjab about a peasant’s wife. It illustrates how her bravery saved the day. 

  • Chapter 6: Humse Sab Kehte

The poem elaborates on the grievances of a child about how the natural phenomenon works, and the various embargo that humans have imposed on themselves. Just as sun rays, moonlight, and air cannot be stopped, why are humans stopped from doing many things? The child ruminates that he is restrained from playing or spreading toys, or scolded just about by anyone. 

  • Chapter 7: Tiptipwa

It is a short story based on old folklore said in Uttar Pradesh. It was about different occurrences that took place in a hamlet on a rainy day. The piece is fun to read and can successfully engage the attention of young learners. 

  • Chapter 8: Bandar Bant

The story revolved around two cats fighting about laying claim to a roti. While they kept on quarrelling, it is a monkey that finally had the roti. 

  • Chapter 9: Akal Badi Ya Bhains 

This story by Shivendra Pandya is about a wrestler and a man called Aftanti. It is a match of wits between them where the wrestler was ultimately defeated. 

  • Chapter 10: Kiyonjimal Aur Kaise Caisliya 

The story is a humorous read which explains flour making between two friends, named Kiyonjimal and Caisliya. 

  • Chapter 11: Meera Behen Aur Bagh 

This chapter is a short biography that charts the life journey of Mira Behn, who was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi. 

  • Chapter 12: Jab Mujhe Saanp Ne Kaata 

Chapter 12 is a short autobiographical piece that accounts for the encounter of the author with a snake. 

  • Chapter 13: Mirch Ka Maaza 

Ramdhari Singh Dinkar wrote the poem Mirch Ka Maaza which narrates anecdotes about red chillies. 

  • Chapter 14: Sabse Achha Ped 

It is a short story by Bharatdas that recounts how trees help us.
