The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 & Paper 2. Paper 1 is specifically for Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degrees. It is conducted through online mode. While Paper 2 is for the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) and the Bachelor of Planning (B.Planning) degree. It is taken through offline mode only.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced Examination consists of two papers: Paper 1 & Paper 2. Advanced exams are held through online mode only. Students are required to appear in both Paper 1 & Paper 2 exams.

4. Who can write the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains and Advanced?
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is responsible for declaring the eligibility for the JEE Main exam and the criteria. As of now, there is no age limit for the candidates appearing in the JEE Main 2021. Candidates who have cleared the class 12 or an equivalent examination in the year 2019, 2020, or 2021, can appear in JEE Main 2021 examination irrespective of their age. However, Aspirants must note that the IITs permit only two attempts for the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) and a maximum of three consecutive attempts for Joint Entrance Examination Main. The candidates must have secured a minimum percentile of 75% marks in their class 12th board exams or the candidates must rank among the top 20 ranks in their qualifying exam for getting admissions in IITs, and NITs.
