कहानी का सारांशः

• प्रस्तुत कहानी में  दो बच्चे आरिफ़ और सलीम की एक दिन की बादशाहत का ख़ूबसूरत चित्रण किया गया है ।

• दो बच्चे आरिफ़ और सलीम अपने माता पिता द्वारा हर बात पर टोके जाने से परेशान थे ।  कभी अम्मी और कभी दादी द्वारा टोका जाता था । उन्हें हर वक़्त पाबंदी में रहने को मजबूर रहना पड़ता था | बच्चों की अपनी मर्जी कभी नहीं चलती थी ।

• एक दिन बच्चों को एक तरक़ीब सूझी और दोनों ने अब्बा के पास जाकर कहा कि एक दिन के लिए उन्हें बड़ों के सारे अधिकार दे दिए जाएं और सब बड़े छोटे बन जाएँ ।

• अब्बा उनकी बात मान लेते है और एक दिन के लिए सारे अधिकार देने की बात कह देते है ।

• अगले दिन सुबह सबसे पहले आरिफ़ ने अम्मी को जल्दी उठकर खाना बनाने को कहा । इसके बाद उसने दादी को हरीरा पीने से टोक दिया । 

• बाद मे खानसामे को आदेश देकर उसने अपने सामने अंडे और मक्खन रखवाया और घर के बाकी सदस्यों को दलिया और दूध बिस्कुट देने को कहा | 

• इसके बाद आरिफ़ और सलीम ने खाने खाते हुए अम्मी को टोका और सलीम ने जबरदस्ती उन्हें गुसलखाने में भेज दिया | 

• इसके बाद सलीम ने अब्बा को कपड़ें मैले होने पर टोका और जल्दी ऑफिस जाने को कहा। 

• बाद मे खानसामा रज़िया को उन्होंने आदेश दिया कि आज आलू, गोश्त, कबाब, मिर्चों का सालन बनेगा | सलीम तुरंत आगे बढ़ा और अम्मी को कहा कि आज गुलाब जामुन, गाजर का हलवा और मीठे चावल बनाओ ।

• जब दादी बात कर रही थी तो आरिफ ने दादी को भी टोक दिया ।

• भाईजान ने शाम को दोस्तों के साथ फिल्म देखकर देर से आने की बात कही तो आरिफ ने आँखें निकालकर उन्हें धमकाया  और जाने से मना कर दिया ।

• इसके बाद सलीम ने आपा को भी टोका और सफेद वॉयल की साड़ी पहनने को कहा और उनकी नकल भी करने लगा ।

• इस तरह आदेश देते-देते एक दिन की बादशाहत ख़त्म हो गई  थी । अगली सुबह सलीम की आँख खुली तो उसने देखा कि आपा नाश्ते की मेज सजाए उन दोनों के उठने का इंतज़ार कर रही थी । अम्मी खानसामे को हर खाने के साथ एक मीठी चीज़ बनाने का आदेश दे रही थी और सभी का बर्ताव बदल सा गया था । सभी को समझ आ गया था कि हुक्म देना आसान होता  है मगर उसका मार कर पालन करना उतना ही मुश्किल होता है ।
