Chapter 1 (The Fish Tale)

Through facts and figures about fishes, the first chapter teaches students about multiplications. They also learn about the weights of different fishes. Other topics covered in the first chapter are speed, different types of boats, boats' capacity, etc.

Chapter 2 (Shapes and Angles)

Chapter 2 in the 5th class Math syllabus focuses on geometrical shapes and figures. It teaches students to make shapes like triangle, hexagon, square, rectangle, etc. by arranging matchsticks. All these shapes have different angles. A basic understanding of these figures must be clear to students for solving more complex sums in future.

Chapter 3 (How Many Squares?)

The 3rd chapter in the CBSE 5th Math syllabus teaches students to measure the dimensions of a square. They learn how to calculate the area and perimeter of squares. By solving the puzzles and quizzes in this lesson, students understand the implementation of these formulas in real life.

Chapter 4 (Parts and Wholes)

Chapter 5 in CBSE Class 5 Math syllabus compares various patterns to draw similarities and dissimilarities between them. It introduces mirror games to show how various figures will look when they are made half. Some shapes get reversed in the mirror image while some remain the same.

Chapter 6 (Be My Multiple, I’ll be Your Factor)

The 6th lesson in the CBSE 5th class Math syllabus teaches students to find multiples of a number, the smallest common factor, the greatest common factor, etc. From a series of numbers, they will have to find the lowest multiple.

Chapter 7 (Can You See the Pattern?)

This chapter details the different shapes and patterns we see around us every day. Each of these shapes and patterns has varied characteristics, which make them unique. Turs like one-third, one-fourth, etc. can also change the pattern of a given shape.

Chapter 8 (Mapping Your Way)

Chapter 8 of the Class 5 CBSE Math syllabus educates children on how a map is to be used. It teaches them to locate different places on a map and find routes from one place to another.

Chapter 9 (Boxes and Sketches)

In this chapter, students learn how a paper box can be changed into other shapes and figures by folding. The concept of 3D figures has also been briefed about in this lesson.

Chapter 10 (Tenths and Hundredths)

The 10th chapter in the CBSE syllabus for Class 5 Math provides a detailed discussion on tenths and hundredths. Students also learn to measure lengths using a ruler, and also count rupees.

Chapter 11 (Area and its Boundary)

In this lesson, children learn how to find out the area of shapes like triangle, square, rectangle, circle, etc. They also learn about units like square centimeters, square meters, square kilometers, and so on.

Chapter 12 (Smart Charts)

Different types of charts, like bar charts, pie charts, line charts, etc., have been detailed in this lesson. The chapter also tells the use and function of each chart.

Chapter 13 (ways to Multiply and Divide)

Chapter 13 in the Class 5 Math CBSE syllabus introduces students to the concepts of multiplication and division. By solving the sums, you can better your speed and efficiency in multiplying or dividing numbers.

Chapter 14 (How Big? How Heavy?)

The final lesson in the Class 5 Math syllabus introduces students to the different measuring units like grams, kilograms, liters, etc. While solids like vegetables, fruits are measured in kilograms and grams, liquids like water, milk etc. are measured in liters.
