Hint: Pathogens are microorganisms that have the capability of causing an infection to its host that could either lead to a disease or not. Pathogens constitute a wide variety of species from bacteria, virus to multicellular and unicellular eukaryotes. Due to infections, cells in the body could get damaged, this could lead to diseases.

Step by step answer:Entamoeba coli are a species of Entamoeba that are non-pathogenic in nature. They are often present in the human gastrointestinal tract as a commensal parasite. These are the most harmless parasites to the host but they have been a cause of internal bleeding. Some of the concerning problems caused by Entamoeba coli is blood in the stools due to intestinal haemorrhage, and if infection occurs in the large intestine then it could result in gastritis, indigestion, dyspepsia, and hyperacidity. These species of parasites have one generation of life cycles with three distinct morphological phases. Trophozoite, Precystic stage, and Cystic stage are the stages of the life cycle. The nucleus of the parasite is enveloped in a thick membrane consisting of many chromatins and one large karyosome. The chromatin is dispersed in the nucleus in an uneven manner and is clumped. Binary fission occurs to form the parasite. The infective stage of the parasite involves a mature cyst that can survive for about three to four months outside the host's body. When a healthy person consumes water and food contaminated with the Entamoeba coli cysts, the cysts cause an infection.
Serious complications such as diarrhoea, lower abdominal pain, constipation, mood alterations and behavior alterations linked to vitamin D deficiency could occur if there is any negligence of the infection caused by these parasites. Dysentery is caused by Shigella bacteria and results in inflammation of the intestinal causing cramps, fever, and abdominal pain. It is not associated with Entamoeba coli. This is also transmitted through contaminated food and water.

Note: Entamoeba coli can be diagnosed through a stool sample. Sometimes the Entamoeba coli are mistaken for Entamoeba histolytica. This can be distinguished by checking the shape, size and number of Entamoeba coli present in the stool.
