JEE or the Joint Entrance Examination is an all India based examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from the year 2019 and one of the top 7 IITs of India. The exam is conducted for admission in various engineering courses in Indian engineering colleges. JEE is conducted in two parts - JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced is taken by the students who wish to get admission to various IITs in the country.
For other colleges, the rank of JEE Main is considered. JEE Main is also considered as the eligibility criterion for JEE Advanced. Students have to mandatorily qualify the JEE Main to sit for the JEE Advanced examination.

The JEE Main is made up of two papers. Paper 1 is for admission to UG Engineering Programs (B.E or B.Tech.) at IIITs, NITs, and other CFTIs (Centrally Funded Technical Institutions), as well as Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE Main is also required for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission to IITs.
Paper 2 is held for admission to the country's B.Arch and B.Planning courses. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, and the Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur, will use the JEE (Main) score sheet for admission to the B.Tech./M.Tech. (Integrated)/B.Arch. programmes beginning in 2021.
JEE Main will be conducted in two phases from 20th to 29th June 2023 (Session I) and 21st to 30th July 2023 (Session II).
JEE Advanced 2023 - A Brief Overview
Under the supervision of the Joint Admission Board 2023 (JAB 2023), the seven Zonal Coordinating IITs will conduct the JEE Advanced 2023. A candidate's performance in JEE Advanced 2023 will serve as the basis for admission to all IITs' Bachelors, Integrated Masters, and Dual Degree programmes (entry at the 10+2 level) in the academic year 2023.
The exam consists of two three-hour papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2) each. It is mandatory to take both papers. JEE Advanced will be conducted on 28th August 2023. Paper I will be from 9 AM to 12 PM and Paper II will be from 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM on the same day.
JEE Advanced 2023 - Eligibility Criteria
Here are the eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE Advanced 2023:
Candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (all categories) in the JEE (Main) 2023 B.E./B.Tech. paper.
Candidates must have been born between October 1, 1997, and October 1, 1998. SC, ST, and PwD candidates receive a five-year age relaxation, which means they must have been born on or after October 1, 1992.
A candidate may take JEE Advanced no more than twice in two consecutive years.
A candidate may take the JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
A candidate must have taken the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2021 or 2022, with the subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Relaxation - One-time measure for those who took their class 12th (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2020/2021 and successfully registered for JEE (Advanced) 2021 but did not take it.
A candidate should NOT have been admitted to an IIT in the past, regardless of whether the candidate continued in the programme or accepted an IIT seat by reporting "online" / at a "reporting centre." Candidates whose admission to IITs was revoked (for whatever reason) after enrolling in an IIT are also ineligible to take the JEE (Advanced) 2023.
