One of the best engineering institutes in our country is the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. It was founded in 1951, and this institute is still considered as the oldest and best institution to impart quality education to its students in several disciplines. IIT Kharagpur is spread across an area of 2100 acres and is well-equipped to accommodate approximately 22,000 people. IIT Kharagpur provides almost 70 courses in various disciplines at the UG. The duration of these courses is 4 years for UG programs. The institute also offers various integrated courses with a duration of five years.

The admission process initiated in September for undergraduates. The counselling process for admission to all IITs is facilitated by Joint Seat Allocation Authority. The candidate is allotted a seat in the course through his JEE ADVANCED RANK and preference of the courses is allotted through the JEE ADVANCED RANK.
There are six counselling sessions for the candidates. The eligibility criteria of almost all the courses include:
Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology as the major subjects.
Minimum of 50-60% of marks in Class 12 to appear for admission.
SC/ ST will have the relaxation of up to 5% in the minimum qualifying marks.
Cut-off of the particular course.
Cut-off score of TOEFL and IELTS for admission of expat students from other
1) TOEFL score of at least 80 out of 120.
2) IELTS score of at least 6.5 out of 9.0.
The students are required to complete entire admission applications to apply to IIT Kharagpur. It takes place through the online portal on the official website. The student should register for JEE Advanced exam for B.Tech and AAT Exam for B.Arch program. The candidate should upload all the personal, academic details and upload Scanned Images of Candidate’s Photograph and Signature through the official website. The students will then have to pay an application fee using Debit card/Credit card/Net banking/UPI/PAYTM by following the online instructions. Once the payment is successful, print the acknowledgement slip for future reference.

The admission process is facilitated by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) in which the university provides the cutoff, and JoSAA claims the merit list after each round. The IIT Kharagpur cutoff is published in the form of Opening and Closing Ranks after completing their counselling rounds. It is categorised based on the gender and category.

However, the cutoffs of the leftover B.Tech specializations like Industrial and system Engineering, instrumental Engineering have shown a fluctuating trend over the course of three years.

IIT Kharagpur offers financial support to as many students as possible in the form of scholarships. These scholarships in the form of merit-cum-means scholarship and endowment scholarships.
