KVPY Syllabus 2021-22 for SA, SB and SX Stream

KVPY or the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is a scholarship exam conducted every year for students who want to pursue an undergraduate degree. KVPY offers monthly scholarships to the selected students and also conducts summer camps for all of them.

In this article, we are getting to mention the KVPY syllabus. Applicants who have already applied for the exam are advised to download the syllabus online. The aptitude test is slated to be persisted on 31st January 2021. The syllabus consists of four subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology. In this article, we have also covered the syllabus for class 11 and students can check the same from our page here. The exam body itself prescribed the syllabi for all the three existing streams – SA, SB, and SX. The streams refer to the classes of the students i.e. 10th/11th/12th/1st year of B.Sc/BS/B.Stat./B.Math./Int.MSc/MS.

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana or popularly known as the KVPY is a scholarship program which is funded by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India. The KVPY scholarship program is aimed at encouraging the students to take up research as a career in the fields of basic sciences. The program offers the selected students scholarships and contingency grants till the pre-Ph.D. level. 

The KVPY Program began in 1999 and is administered by the Indian Institute of Science or the IISc. The qualified students of the KVPY Exam become eligible for fellowship as well as admissions into institutes like the IISc and the IISER on the basis of some additional criteria. 

The KVPY exam has 3 Streams namely: SA (for class 11), SX (for class 12), and SB (for First-year BSc students). The KVPY application process has four steps: first registration, second application form submission, next fee payment, and lastly, check the status of the application.

The students appearing for the KVPY must have detailed knowledge regarding the same which includes its importance as follows:

KVPY Syllabus For SA

The topics and the chapters from class X and Class XII are included in the KVPY SA syllabus for the steam of SA. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics are the four main subjects that are covered in the SA stream.

All four subjects and the important topics concerning each subject are mentioned below. 

  • Chemistry: States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Reactions, Metals and Nonmetals, Periodic Classification of Elements, Acids, Bases and Salts, Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Carbon Compounds,

  • Physics: Physical World and Measurement, Gravitation, Thermodynamics, Magnetic Effects of Current, Sources of Energy, Reflection, Refraction, Electromagnetic Induction, Applications in Daily Life, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy, and Power.

  • Mathematics: Geometry, Introduction to Trigonometry, Statistics, Quadratic Equations, Probability, Surface Areas, and Volumes, Coordinate Geometry, Mathematical Reasoning, Statistics and Probability, Trigonometric Functions, Real Numbers, Polynomials.

KVPY Syllabus For SX

The KVPY SX syllabus covers all the important concepts, topics, and chapters from classes X, XI, and XII. Similar to the SA stream, four subjects are covered in the syllabus which are Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics. Everything is the same but only the KVPY syllabus for class 12 is added for the SX stream.

All four subjects and the important topics concerning each subject are mentioned below. 

  • Chemistry: Surface Chemistry, States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, Metals and Nonmetals, Carbon Compounds, Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Reactions, Environmental Chemistry, Solid State, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Isolation of Elements, Periodic Classification of Elements.

  • Physics: Magnetic Effects of Current, Reflection of Light, Electromagnetic Induction, Kinematics, Work Energy Power, Sources of Energy, Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Refraction, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Induction, and Alternating Current, Physical World, and Measurement, Gravitation, Laws of Motion.

In the KVPY SB syllabus, along with the classes each, to keep for X and XI, the first-year undergraduate syllabus is also included with respect to each subject. All the four subjects and the important topics with respect to each subject are mentioned below.

1. How can I Check my KVPY 2019 Result?

Checking the KVPY 2019 individual results is very easy, all the candidates should follow the following steps:

  • Visit the official website of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY).

  • When the candidate goes on the homepage, he or she can see a link present that says KVPY Result 2019. Click on that link.

  • When the link of KVPY Result 2019 is clicked, a new home page will appear where the candidate can click on the stream in which he or she wrote the exam and then check the results.

2. Is KVPY 2019 Result Declared?

On 21st December 2019, the results of the KVPY Aptitude test were declared and the final result which is the total score of the aptitude test and the interview was declared on 11th April 2019.

3. Are KVPY Results Out?

The KVPY results for the year 2020 were declared on 16th March 2021. KVPY or the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is a national-level fellowship program administered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).

There are numerous benefits of qualifying for the KVPY exam some of which include:

The SX Stream of the KVPY comprises the candidates who are appearing or have passed the Class XII examination with science subjects in the academic session 2021. Whereas, the SB Stream is for the candidates who are pursuing 1st year of the undergraduate program in basic sciences in the academic year 2021. Thus, the students must check this eligibility and then apply for the exam registration process.

6. Will the KVPY 2021 syllabus be easy for SA, SB, and SX streams?

If you are a JEE or a NEET aspiring student then the KVPY exam is a bit easy to crack for you. The preparation for the KVPY exam is almost similar to the JEE or NEET syllabus. However, the students are advised to keep in mind that the KVPY exam level is a bit higher than that of the JEE or NEET exam. Also, the KVPY exam has no prescribed syllabus.
