FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q1. I am Willing to Write the INMO Exam 2020. Can I Write it Directly or do I Need to Meet any Criteria?

Ans: INMO does not consider the academic performance of the applicant. Therefore, your good or poor performance in respective classes is no criterion to apply for the INMO 2020. However, in order to sit for INMO, you will have to first clear the HBCSE Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) exam. Moreover, the INMO exam paper is the 3rd ladder to reach the ultimate 6th stage i.e. International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). That is to say, there are different Stages in IMO and INMO is 3rd on the number and applicants have to clear each stage to go to the next. Let’s unlock how you will get through INMO crossing these stages.

Q2. Why Should I Take the INMO Exam?

Ans: Apart from an opportunity to appear for International Math Olympiad, students who qualify INMO have access to other benefits too:

  • INMO qualified students are automatically eligible to acquire admission to B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics course in the Chennai Mathematical Institute.

  • They can also directly appear for the interview for B. Math or B. Stat courses at country’s most coveted Indian Statistical Institute (ISI).

  • They can also apply for a National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM) scholarship of Rs 2,500 per month if they pursue mathematics for their higher studies.

  • INMO achievers are also offered an annual cash prize of INR 9,000 if they seek special interest in Mathematics but are not pursuing it as a subject.

  • They also stand eligible for the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) comradeship, provided that they pursue further study in science in India. This camaraderie is worth INR. 4000/month.

  • There are also cash awards for students who win gold, silver or bronze medals at IMO of INR 5,000, Rs 4,000, and Rs 3,000 respectively.

Q3. Is the Olympiad Tougher than JEE?

Ans: Olympiads are actually tougher than JEE as well as JEE ADVANCED. Firstly, the difficulty level of all questions is higher in IMO and other Olympiads in comparison to JEE. Secondly, the candidate selection quota is also very less as compared to JEE ADVANCED. However, keep in mind that achieving a good score in IMO does not guarantee a good score in JEE. Though, you can set a strong base to sit for competitive entrance exams preparing for the Olympiad exam. This way, the two competitive exams are a little orthogonal.

Q4. How can Vedantu Help me Crack INMO and IMO?

Ans: Vedantu e-learning education is held by industry maestros who are known to offer exceptional and cost-effective packages for Indian National Mathematical Olympiad and other important Olympiad exam preparation. Students are imparted thorough learning through activity workbooks, previous year papers with solutions as well as Math Olympiad sample papers, people, and personal guidance with correct INMO answer key.
