What is RMO Exam?

IOQM syllabus and examination format will be similar to PRMO this year.

The Regional Mathematical Olympiad is the second stage of the Olympiad conducted by Homi Bhabha Centre of Science Education (HBCSE) on behalf of the National Board for Higher Mathematics. This exam is a part of the International Mathematical Olympiad in which six selected candidates represent India.

This International Mathematical Olympiad program is divided into six stages, and candidates have to qualify all the stages to be eligible for the final stage. The RMO exam measures the problem-solving and logical reasoning capacity of students. Moreover, the candidates of classes 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 who rank well in RMO are selected for INMO.

It is essential to score good marks in the Pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad to understand a student’s capability to solve equations in RMO. Based on their performance, the RMO Result will be declared.

RMO Exam Results 2023

The results for RMO 2023 will be announced in December 2023. The result can be obtained from the official website of Mathematical Olympiads or can be checked from the website of HBCSE.

How to Check the RMO Result?

Usually, the RMO results are released through the login window on the HBCSE website where students can access their scores. Candidates need to enter their roll numbers and date of birth to access their RMO results. They have to verify the captcha and click on the login button to view and print the result page.

If any student has any doubt about the RMO result, HBCSE also offers a re-evaluation facility. A student can apply for the same before the last date to the regional coordinator. The list of regional coordinators is readily available on the official website. Furthermore, in the case of a query or grievance, a student can contact the concerned authorities. The grievances are checked at any grievance portal on the official website.

From every region, students are selected for INMO after they clear RMO. Only if the candidate attains the cut off marks, which is estimated to be 25 -30, they move to the national level examination. RMO result 2023 cut off will decide this year's topper and the students who will attend the training camp.

Listed below is the analysis of the previous year’s RMO results from some of the regions.

Tips to Secure Good Grades in RMO

To qualify in RMO, an applicant must put in a significant amount of effort for the exam preparation. Must devote proper time to solving Olympiad-level math problems. A good score in the RMO is entirely dependent on their preparation and time management during the RMO and Olympiad stages preparation.

So, here are a few pointers to help you improve your planning and achieve successful results in the RMO result 2023.

  1. Practice a Lot:

Before the exam, every student should practise as many RMO sample papers as possible, to get a detailed understanding of all the concepts in each topic. Students can also solve RMO previous year question papers to improve their problem-solving skills and speed. It also boosts their their ability to compete in the International Mathematical Olympiad.

  1. Create a Schedule and Time Table:

Studying according to the syllabus is important for an RMO aspirant. They can begin by making a timetable or study schedule and following it. Time management is crucial, and the study schedule can be divided into five days to relieve stress. The next step should be self-evaluation.

  1. Follow Good Reference Books:

Since RMO questions are usually focused on concepts, it is critical to emphasize the fundamental concepts in Mathematics. Referring to good books prepared by experts is needed for proper study planning.

Furthermore, they have questions from classes 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. Problem Primer for Olympiads, An Excursion in Maths, Functional Equations, Combinatorics, and other books can be used by candidates. The best advice is to fully comprehend the principles of mathematical equations.

  1. Know the Syllabus:

To prepare for the RMO exam, you must have a thorough understanding of the syllabus. Going over the RMO syllabus thoroughly will aid in the preparation of notes. This will make it easier to complete the entire syllabus and finish the practice in a timely manner.

It is recommended that a student always self-assess their test score for effective practice. This will assist them in identifying their areas of strength and need for progress. Furthermore, it will assist a student in identifying areas where more effort is needed.
