1. How can I participate in the IMO exam 2023-24 as a student?
Ans: The student who wishes to participate in the Olympiad IMO exam must follow all the following conditions:
1. Must be a student from Grade 1 to Grade 12 for the IMO level 1 exam. While for IMO level 2 exam the student must belong to Grade 3 to Grade 12.
2. You need to score at least at the top 5% ranking class-wise in order to appear for the Level 1 exam at an international level.
3. Those students who hold the top 25 ranks can also be a part of the exam from each zone and each class.
4. A class topper must make sure that he/ she has scored at least 50% marks in the first level to enter the second round.
2. Is it possible that IMO 2023 will be conducted online?
Ans: Due to COVID-19 regulations, the officials of SOF have decided to keep the IMO exam a purely virtual event. This means that there will be no physical presence of either the hosts or the students and the entire exam shall be conducted in an online mode. Even though it has not been confirmed for Olympiad level 2 as to how the exams will be conducted the IMO level 1 exam shall be conducted online itself. Ans: In IMO a zone refers to an association of 2 or more states. Hence the word zone rank refers to the rank that a particular student has secured among all the students from the associated states. There are several zones based on the association from which the students are selected.
The IMO class rank means that the students who rank the same will be further determined by those sections which have higher priority. And if they still have the same marks in the specified conditions they shall be awarded the same rank.
4. How many levels are included in the IMO exam?
Ans: 2 levels are included in the IMO exam. First, the level 1 exam is conducted at respective schools from where the students are further selected for Level 2. Once selected for level 2 they will then write an exam and the winner shall be awarded the gold, silver, or bronze medals. While the level 1 exam shall include a part of the reasoning section, the level 2 exam shall be entirely based on mathematics.
