1. Can you recognise the child in the picture who has made a full turn? Who has made a half turn? How do you know? Discuss in class.

Answer: The child who is facing the same direction as the starting point has made a full turn. The child who is facing the exact opposite direction from the starting position has made a half turn. This can be known by observing their body directions in relation to their original position.

2. Give examples of real-life situations where you observe turns.

Answer: Some real-life examples where we observe turns are: turning a key in a lock, opening or closing a tap, spinning a top, swinging a door, and rotating the steering wheel of a car.

Understanding Turns

1. Reema takes two half turns in the same direction. It is like a ______ turn.

2. What happens if she takes 2 quarter turns in the same direction? It is like a ______ turn.

3. What happens if she takes 4 quarter turns in the same direction? It is like a ______ turn.

Types of Angles by Turns

• I made a quarter (¼) of a full turn, so it looks like a right angle.

• I made two quarter turns. I wonder what it is called?
  It is a straight angle.

1. Making a paper fan: Take a rectangular piece of paper, fold every 2 cm as shown, and paste ice cream sticks to create a paper fan. Use the fan to show acute and obtuse angles.

Look at the angles marked in the house. What angles are you able to see in this house? Write your answers as right, acute or obtuse angle.

1. Make a 5-sided shape with 2 right angles, 2 obtuse angles, and 1 acute angle in your notebook.
