JEE Main Exam to be Held in Two Shifts

The JEE Main exam will be held in two shifts – Morning and Evening shifts. The details of JEE Main morning shift 2 (evening) answer key will be available for download at the end of this post. The JEE Main paper and the respective shift of the exam will be released on 2nd April 2019.

What is the JEE Main Shift 2 (Evening)?

In the JEE Main 2021, the 2 shifts will be the Morning shift 2 (evening) and Evening shift 2 (evening). The shifts will be held in two phases i.e. morning and evening.

What are the Changes in JEE Main Solutions and Answer Key for JEE Main, 2021?

There are several changes in JEE Main 2020 solutions and answer key compared to JEE Main 2020. These changes have been done to ensure an equitable distribution of questions to the candidates and make the exams more balanced. Here are the changes:

Mixed type questions (MCQs and Numerical questions) have been replaced with Numerical only. MCQs and Numerical questions have been re-arranged and divided into different blocks.

In the JEE Main 2021, there will be more practicals and fewer questions, which will enable candidates to focus on concepts and understanding.

JEE Main 2021 Exam Pattern

Phase-1: 100 Questions in Paper-I (Morning) and 100 Questions in Paper-II (Evening)

JEE Main Paper-I and Paper-II will consist of two sections each. You will have to complete a test worth 90 marks (50 marks in Paper-I and 40 marks in Paper-II).

The examination is conducted in two shifts. Both the shifts follow the same pattern, but their timing differs. So, candidates need to do one shift and then the next. The two shifts will be scheduled as a single session, which makes things more convenient for candidates.

Exam Centers and Venue

After the JEE Main admission test was canceled in December 2019, the exam date was announced as January 24, 2020. The exam was scheduled in two shifts, in which the morning shift (9:30 AM to 1:30 PM) is conducted from a different venue and the afternoon shift (3:00 PM to 6:30 PM) from the same venue.

The shift timings are decided by the National Testing Agency (NTA) so that students can find convenient timings.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) decided to conduct the exam in two shifts to ease the burden on the students. NTA can conduct the test in any shift (morning or afternoon) and that is the reason for the shift timings. The test is conducted twice daily.

After the announcement of the shift timings, the exam was conducted in both shifts at two exam centers. As per the JEE Main Admission Notification (pdf), the test was to be held at 5 centers. The shift timings were decided by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

This year the JEE Main and the Mains have a new format that allows students more opportunities to improve their percentile, the JEE Main Question Papers. It consists of 50 multiple choice questions for general awareness, general knowledge, and current affairs.

The MCQs tests the candidates’ ability to identify and recognize significant facts and general awareness of the most prominent national and international topics. The number of questions in the test has increased from the previous years so students will need to improve their speed and accuracy to score maximum marks.

The previous year’s question paper, however, was of a different format. Instead of an MCQ, it consisted of 100 multiple choice questions based on which candidates were evaluated.

The question paper is given to the participants three days before the date of the exam, to the day of the exam, and the day after the exam.

For the students, there is a difference between JEE Main Main Sols and JEE Main Main Sols and Analysis. Those who fail to score a qualifying mark in JEE Main Main Sols, have the option to retake the paper a few days later.

For the JEE Main Main Analytical, a paper of 100 questions is prepared which are then analyzed to get an idea about the difficulty of the paper, how prepared a candidate was, if a candidate was underprepared, how many questions the candidate attempted.
