The Eligibility Criteria for the Test are as Follows:

Minimum of class 12 or class 10 with a minimum of 40% marks for admission to NITs, IIITs and other technical colleges.
For candidates appearing for the second time, a minimum of class 12 or class 10 and a minimum of 50% marks is required.
It is a requirement for candidates applying for admission for the second time that they must have appeared for the JEE in the year before, and obtained a minimum of 60% marks.
Candidates must have a score of at least 60% in class 12 or class 10.
Minimum marks in the aggregate for class 12 and class 10 examination is 40% (40% marks in class 12 + 30% marks in class 10).
The weightage to be given to the candidates has been reduced.

The exam will be conducted as a computer-based test. The test will comprise 2 sections of 300 minutes each. Section-I is the Quantitative Aptitude section comprising 30 minutes each and Section-II is Mathematics paper comprising 50 minutes each.

Paper 2 consists of multiple choice objective type questions. The paper is based on concepts from various disciplines of mathematics that relate to everyday life. Section-I of the paper will consist of five problems (one of which will be a Data Interpretation) and Section-II of the paper will consist of 30 problems (with 5 of which being Data Interpretation).

The paper will have a time limit of 30 minutes for each section.

How to Prepare for the JEE Main Exam?

The JEE Main examination is conducted for admission into the Indian Institutes of Engineering. Candidates need to have a very high level of knowledge in subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Statistics. Candidates should be in good command of the English Language and General Knowledge.

The exam consists of 300 minutes including 2 sections of 150 minutes each. Candidates should keep a check on their study progress so that they can reach the topmost position. For this, they must read daily, learn from books and practise previous years questions. It is not advisable to learn the questions by heart. Try to solve problems using the solution methods. Reading from reference books will give the answers to the questions.

The syllabus covers all the essential topics of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Statistics. The exams will be based on solving problems related to the concepts and theories from the respective topics. Candidates should learn all the concepts from the prescribed books and study hard to get rid of the confusion and anxiety.

The Topics Covered in the JEE Main 2020 Paper-I are as Follows:

Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurement and number System, Multiplication, long division, short division, long division, division by 10, division by 100, fractions, decimal numbers and percentage, Measurements and conversions of measurements, Sets of integers and fractional parts, Sets of positive and negative integers and fractions, Number system, Properties of integers and rational numbers, Conversion of units, measurement and conversions of measurement, Calculations on a number system, Algebra, Calculus, Analysis, Geometry, Concepts of the graph, Linear equation and quadratic equation, Polynomials, logarithms, exponents and roots, Powers and factorials, Arithmetic series, Complex numbers and complex variables, Evaluation of a complex number by the rectangular method and its approximation, Numerical integration, Functions and partial differentiation.

Students can register for the JEE Advanced twice a year. The first registration form is held in June or July and is open for the first ten days of July or August. The second registration form is held in September and is open for 10 days, starting on 17 September.

JEE is a qualifying examination for admission to 1,50,000+ engineering seats in the Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology and other institutions of National Importance.

JEE is also the qualifying exam for admission to 2,20,000+ seats in the IITs.

JEE Syllabus and Examination Structure

The JEE Advanced contains the following three sections:

Part I: The written test of Mathematics - Part I consists of two papers: (i) Analytical Writing (ii) Quantitative
Part II: The Physics test, which is a multiple-choice test and tests the candidate's knowledge of Mathematics as per the new curriculum.
Part III: The Chemistry test

The marks obtained by the candidates in the three tests are added to get the aggregate JEE Advanced score and then divided by three to arrive at the JEE score.

The cut-off percentage to qualify for the JEE is 90% in each subject of Part I and 75% in each subject of Parts II and III. For the JEE-Main, cut-offs vary from place to place and are available on the official website. The average score in each section of the test for a student to qualify for the JEE-Main is about 650.

Major Highlights of JEE Main 2020 Question Paper September 4 Shift 2

The difficulty level of the question paper was moderate.
Out of the three sections, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, the Physics section was a bit more difficult than the other two sections.

The difficulty level of the Mathematics section was moderate but the quotients were lengthy.

The Chemistry section was quite easy. Most of the questions were theoretical and from the NCERT syllabus.
