JEE Main Mode of Examination

What is the JEE Main mode of exam? JEE Main 2025 examination is being conducted in the following modes. Take a look:

  1. Paper 1 (B.E/B.Tech) - The paper will be held online. It is a Computer-Based Test.

  2. Paper 2A (B. Arch) - The second paper of B.Arch will be held both Online & Offline. 

  • The Aptitude and Mathematic Section is conducted in Online Mode. 

  • The Paper of Art or Structure Drawing is held offline mode ie. Pen and Paper Mode to be attempted on a drawing sheet of A4 size.

  1. Paper 2B (B. Planning) - The exam of B.Plan consisting of sections - Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Planning-based is held in Online mode.

JEE Main Pattern of Examination

JEE Main Exam Pattern - Paper 1 (B.Tech/B.E.)

  • Paper 1 of JEE Main 2025 will be conducted to provide admissions to B.Tech courses.

  • The examination will be Computer-based and held in Online mode.

  • The paper will have questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics Sections

  • There are 90 MCQs for a total of 300 marks. It has two sections for each subject - MCQs (Section A) and Numerical (Section B). 

  • Section A covers 20 questions from each of the subjects with a compulsion to attempt. Whereas Section B consists of 10 questions out of which, candidates can select any 5 questions to attempt.

JEE Main Marking Scheme For MCQs

+4 marks will be given for each correct answer. A negative marking of -1 mark will be given for each wrong answer.

JEE Mains negative marking scheme For Numerical Based Questions

Students will be given +4 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.


JEE Main Exam Pattern - Paper 2A (B.Arch)

  • It will be an Online test for Aptitude and the Mathematics Section 

  • The Paper of Art or Structure Drawing is held in Offline mode.

  • The Drawing section covers 2 questions while the Mathematics section has 20 MCQs and 10 numerical-based questions.

  • In the Aptitude Section, there will be 50 questions.

JEE Main Marking Scheme For MCQ

+4 marks will be provided to students for each correct answer and -1 negative mark for every wrong answer.

JEE Mains negative marking scheme For Numerical Based Questions

Students will be awarded +4 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Two questions are evaluated out of 100 marks.
