Back then, when the Indian government felt the need for more human resources and skilled professionals to bring about the much-needed revolution in the field of science and technology, it decided to set up eight new IIT’s. Six of them started their academic year in 2008, and the rest two started in 2009; one of them was IIT Indore. The Indian Institute of Technology Indore holds national importance. It is an organization that functions as an autonomous statutory unit under the Institute of Technology Act. It started working as a temporary campus under the Institute of Engineering and Technology of Devi Ahilyabai University during its initial days. It was mentored by an old and prestigious IIT campus, which is IIT Bombay. In 2016, IIT Indore was made an individual campus in 2016 Simrol, Indore. Since then, all the academic offices, the finance and accounts section, the school of engineering, the school of basic sciences, the labs required for the courses and even the library have started to function from the Indore campus, which is currently spread over 501 acres of land and standing tall with all the good work ever since.

IIT Indore has a curriculum that emphasizes the research-driven methodologies and ensures that the students enrolled for UG courses get the best exposure and insights. Cut Off

IIT Indore provides a four-year B.Tech programme at the undergraduate level. Admission to the programme is made based on the rank that the candidate achieves in JEE advanced, followed by the counselling conducted for the selected candidates by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) Counselling. The institute-specific, for specific IITs across the country, the cutoff is announced after JEE Advanced 2021 is declared. Thereafter, the seat allocation process starts for the candidates. The allotment of the seats in the college is done on the basis of the cut-off, which varies for different colleges and the candidates' preference for the courses and the colleges. The colleges' cutoffs are generally done in seven rounds of JoSAA Counselling based on opening and closing ranks for each of the programme-specific specializations. However, during the Covid-19 situation, only six rounds of counselling were conducted. The cutoffs are further categorised based on gender and various categories other than General like SC, ST, OBC, PwD, etc.

A table with General category cutoffs with opening and closing ranks from round 1 till around 6 of JoSAA Counselling, respectively for Gender-Neutral candidates looking for B.Tech admission at IIT Indore, is as follows:
