IIT Bhilai was established by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development in 2016 in Chhattisgarh. The institute is presently housed in the transit campus in GEC (Government Engineering College) Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Admission Process

The admission process for IIT Bhilai commences from September when the process for JEE examination begins. To get admission into the college, the students must fulfil the JEE Main eligibility criteria and JEE Advanced eligibility criteria.


The IIT Bhilai admission depends on the rank obtained by the candidate in JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. JoSAA releases the final rank and cutoff list based on which seats are given to the applicants. If the student clears the IIT Bhilai cutoff, then they can get the seat in their chosen department.


IIT Bhilai Application Process

To get admission into IIT Bhilai, the students can apply online through the official portal. The candidates are also required to fill in the form for the qualifying entrance examination. All the B.Tech aspirants can fill the JEE form through the NTA site.

IIT Bhilai Cut-Off

At the undergraduate level, a four-year program is offered by IIT Bhilai. The students can get into the college after qualifying the JEE examination. Once done, it is followed by JoSAA counselling. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority of India declares the cut off for all colleges. Following this, the seat allotment takes place based on candidates preferences of the course. Generally, cut-offs are announced in 7 rounds of counselling. However, in 2020, the cut-offs were announced only in 6 rounds because of COVID-19. For specific program specialisations, the opening and closing ranks are declared. The cut-offs are further announced based on the category. Scholarships

Several scholarships are offered to the students at the undergraduate level itself. This encourages students to do well academically and attain excellence. Scholarship details for IIT Bhilai are as mentioned below:


Merit-Cum-Mean Scholarship:

  • In the OBC and UR categories, a maximum of 25% of students can get this scholarship.

  • Eligibility criteria: Income of parents must be less than 5 lakhs for UR and less than 6 lakhs for OBC. To avail the benefit all throughout their course, the students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 6.0.

SC/ST Scholarship:

All the students belonging to SC/ST categories are eligible for this scholarship. The following allowances are provided to the students:

  • Free food and boarding.

  • Monthly allowance of Rs.250.

  • Maintaining a minimum CGPA of 7.0 and the income of parents must be less than 5 lakhs for students belonging to UR category and less than 6 lakhs for students belonging to OBC category.

Free Student Scholarship:

In undergraduate programs, the grant of free studentship can be availed by 10 percent of the students. However, to avail this scholarship, a minimum CGPA of 6 must be maintained. The parental income must be less than 5 lakhs for students belonging to the UR category and less than 6 lakhs for students belonging to the OBC category. For other economically backward students availing ⅔ rd of remission for the tuition, they are eligible to avail ⅓ rd reimbursement for tuition fee as well.


Placements

IIT Bhilai was established in 2016 following which the first batch of students for undergraduate has not passed yet. Currently, they provide the students with a training and placement program.
