Description of 10 Biggest Cricket Stadium 

1. Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, India

Narendra Modi Stadium, located on the bank of the Sabarmati River is the first largest stadium in the World. The stadium was launched in 1982 to flourish the career of cricket talent in this area. Earlier, it was able to accommodate 49,000 cricket fans. But, after the stadium redevelopment task was completed in February 2013, it is now able to accommodate more than 1.3 lakhs cricket fans. In 2015, the Gujarat Cricket Association under the enthusiastic leadership of Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and then GCA President Shri Amit Shah decided to reconstruct the stadium and make it the largest stadium in the World. Spread over 63 acres with a seating capacity of more than 1.3 lakhs spectators, the stadium smashed a record by surpassing Melbourne Cricket Ground which can accommodate 100,000 spectators.

2. Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, Victoria

Melbourne Cricket Ground, also known as “ The G” was established in 1853 in Yarra Park, Melbourne, Victoria. It was established when the population of Port Phillip district was about 2000. It is the second-largest cricket stadium in the world by capacity.  MCG was the main stadium for the 1956 Olympics Games and 2006 Commonwealth Games, attracting up to 10,000 fans to the annual AFL Grand Finale. The stadium holds the capacity to accommodate approximately 100,000 cricket fans.

3. Eden Garden, Kolkata, India 

Eden Garden Cricket Stadium was established in 1864 in Kolkata, India. It is the second-largest cricket station in India and the third-largest cricket stadium in the World after Narendra Modi Stadium and Melbourne Cricket Ground. Eden Garden stadium is known for its floodlights where day and night matches are held easily. The stadium was earlier named Auckland Circus Gardens and later changed to Eden Garden. Spread over 50 acres with a seating capacity of approximately 68000 spectators, the stadium is widely known for its giant electronic scoreboard.

4. Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur, India

Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium was established in 2008 in the city of Naya, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. It is also known as Naya Raipur International Stadium. The stadium was named after freedom fighter Veer Narayan Singh.  The stadium holds the capacity to accommodate approximately 65,000 cricket fans.

5. Perth Stadium, Australia

Perth Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium known to be the third-largest stadium in Australia with an expected seating capacity of approximately 60,000 spectators. It is located in Perth, Western Australia. The first event held at the stadium was a low-key club cricket match in December 2017.  However, the stadium was officially opened on January 21, 2018. The stadium is used for several sporting events including Australian Rules Football, cricket, soccer, international rugby, and football games. On November 8, 2017, the government announced that the stadium would be officially known as Optus Stadium.

6. Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad, India

Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, also known as Aisaka International Cricket Stadium is the renowned cricket stadium in Hyderabad. It was established in 2004 in the eastern suburb of Uppal. The stadium is known for its ultra-modern facilities and acts as a home ground for the Hyderabad Cricket Association and the Indian Premier League Team Sunrisers Hyderabad. The stadium is spread over 16 acres of land and holds the capacity to accommodate approximately 55,000 cricket fans.

7. Greenfield International Stadium, Kerala, India

Greenfield International Stadium, also known as Trivandrum International Stadium, is located at  Kariavattom in Thiruvananthapuram city, Kerala, India. It is a multi-purpose stadium in Kerala used mainly for cricket and association football. The stadium became India’s 50th International Cricket Venue on November 7, 2017, when it hosted a Twenty20 International match against  New Zealand. The stadium hosted its first One Day International on November 1, 2018. The stadium is spread over 36 acres of land and holds the capacity to accommodate approximately 55,000 cricket fans.

Established in 1871, Adelaide Oval stadium is regarded as one of the most pleasant sporting grounds in the world. It attracts thousands of visitors throughout the world each year. The ground was designed by architect Kenneth Milne, and began service on November 3, 1911. In 1884, the first test match between England and Australia was held at this stadium.
