What do you Know about TNEA Counselling?

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions or TNEA is conducted each year under the aegis of Anna University. It offers admissions into undergraduate engineering courses offered by 519 participating institutes. TNEA 2022 application form will be tentatively released in the Third week of July . Candidates will be able to apply in online mode.

The authorities will announce the TNA Counselling schedule through the official website and candidates will have to report in person for the document verification. This article contains important information about TNEA admission, random number generation, and counselling dates that will be immensely helpful to you.

There is no entrance examination for TNEA and seats are filled through counselling and merit list. The merit list is prepared according to the marks obtained by the candidates in their Higher Secondary Exams. Let’s go through the table and find the marks for different categories.

Age Criteria for TNEA Exam

There are no age criteria specified by authorities for the exam. So, you can apply at any age for this counselling exam.

Special Eligibility Criteria for Marine Engineering Stream

There is a special criterion for marine engineering applicants and these are listed below:

  • Candidates must have passed their class 12 with a minimum of 60% aggregate score in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Also, candidates applying for Marine Engineering must have studied English as one of the subjects in their class 12 with minimum 50% aggregate score.

  • Your height should not be less than 157 cm and weight must be greater than or equal to 48 kgs.

  • You should have normal 6/6 vision on both eyes without wearing glasses.

TNEA Random Number Generation

You need to generate a random number before going to the TNEA Counselling. The sole purpose behind assigning random numbers to students is to break the deadlock in case the rank of two or more students remains tied after all the tie-breaking criteria. You can check your random number by using your registration id to login to the portal. Follow the below steps and it will be much easier for you:

  • Go to the official website of TNEA.

  • Login with your login id and password.

  • Open the link, generate a random number.

  • Your random number will be shown on the screen.

TNEA Counselling 2022

The TNEA Counselling is conducted in different rounds. You will be called on the specific dates for the counselling session. The counselling session will be held during the third week of July. You are required to pay the required fees for participating in the counselling rounds. The initial fee required is Rs 5000 for general candidates and Rs 1000 for SC/ST and other backward classes. Candidates will also be allowed to fill fresh choices after each round of counselling.

TNEA Seat Allotment 2022

After the TNEA Counselling the authorities will conduct TNEA 2022 seat allotment in online mode in total 4 rounds. Candidates will be offered seats on a provisional basis, where candidates will be given an opportunity or accept the seat allotted to them.

1. Should I Note Down the Application Number?

Ans: It is mandatory to keep the application number until the counselling session is over. The counselling call letter, rank list, random number, and application status are all related to the application number. So, it is sufficient to say that the application is perhaps the most important part of the TNEA Exam 2022.

2. Is TNEA only for Tamil Nadu Residents?

Ans: Although the name Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions suggests that only domiciled residents can apply but in reality, it’s not so. There is no need for nativity certification. Candidates who have passed 10+2 from within or outside the state of Tamil Nadu can apply for counselling.

3. What is the Program for BTech Courses?

Ans: The program duration for all BTech courses is 4 years. In these 4 years, there are in total 8 semesters divided for the benefit of the candidates.

4. What are the Sandwich Courses for B.Tech Admissions?

Ans: In BTech, sandwich courses in Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, and Electronics Engineering are offered at PSG College of Technology under the self-financing scheme.
