Based on the hypothesis and experiment a conservation law is mathematically expressed as a continuity equation, a partial differential equation which gives a relation between the amount of the quantity and the "transport" of that quantity.

Conservation of Energy: Conservation of energy implies that energy can be neither created nor destroyed but can be converted from one form of energy to another. Hence energy is conserved in an isolated system and it remains constant.
Conservation of linear momentum: Conservation of linear momentum implies that a body or system in motion stays in motion unless and until disturbed by an external force i.e. a body retains its motion unless and until an equal or greater amount of external force counters it.
