All the activities that are conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) Olympiad aim at making learning an interactive and interesting process in which the students put their skills, memory, talent, and knowledge to test.
The full form of IGKO is International General Knowledge Olympiad and is conducted to encourage students to know more about the events happening in India and around the world. Besides current events, the Olympiad will also focus on student's knowledge of history, geography, science, mathematics, etc. The importance of this Olympiad is to check the general awareness of the students.
Science Olympiad Foundation (IGKO) is basically a general knowledge-based Olympiad. Kids tend to have an optimistic view of the world. Science Olympiad Foundation (IGKO) expects to elevate the understanding of student's knowledge about familiar things in society as well as the world. Even though it is based on the school syllabus, there will be a high possibility of questions related to current events. SOF IGKO Syllabus covers portions from current affairs, latest technological advancements, the latest findings in the scientific world, and world politics.
Science Olympiad Foundation conducts SOF IGKO (International General Knowledge Olympiad) for class 1 to class 10 students. SOF IGKO 2020 is a single level exam that will be held on November 5, November 19, and December 3, 2020. Schools need to fix the exam date as well as send registrations by 30 days before the exam date.
Schools in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India & Nepal need to pay a registration fee of Rs 125 (including GST) per student.
Science Olympiad Foundation IGKO is an objective-type test to be held in paper and pen mode.
The duration of the IGKO 2020 Exam is sixty minutes.
There 35 Multiple Choice questions for class 1 to 4 and 50 Multiple Choice questions for class 5 to class 10.
The exam is conducted during school hours.
IGKO exam 2020 will be conducted on three dates. Schools have to select an exam date as per the school’s convenience. Each date has a separate question paper.
The International General Knowledge Olympiad IGKO Eligibility Criteria 2020 are as stated below.
Nationality: The one applying for the IGkO should be Indian.
Internationality: Applicants from abroad are also eligible to apply.
Qualification: The applicant from class 1 to 12 are eligible to apply.
General Knowledge is the mandatory subject in which the applicant should have an interest.
The applicants who meet the qualification criteria will be eligible to apply for the IGKO Exam.
It is a single level exam.
Registration of Students: The SOF IGKO (International General Knowledge Olympiad) is open to the students from classes 1 to 10. Students need to register through their respective schools only. Individual registrations done by students are not accepted. A minimum of 10 students is required to be registered from each school for the IGKO Exam.
Principals/teachers need to note that any school can be registered as a center for SOF IGKO Level One. No fee is required from the institution or school to become a registered examination centre.
A prospectus containing the Registration forms are sent to all the schools registered with SOF. Schools not registered may also request for prospectus by sending an e-mail at the given email address, firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 0124-4951200. Schools must return the registration forms to Science Olympiad Foundation, duly filled in and complete in all respects by the due date.
The SOF International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO) is a single level exam.
The test is organized in the respective schools/ institutions of the participants during school hours.
(i) The level 1 competition is a test of 60 minutes duration comprising 35 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for class 1 to class 4 and 50 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for class 5 to class 10.
(ii) The question paper consists of four sections:
Section-1: General Awareness
Section-2: Current Affairs
Section-3: Life Skills
Section-4: Achievers Section
(iii) Science Olympiad Foundation IGKO is conducted on three dates for Level 1 as mentioned at the beginning of the article. Each school may select a date for conducting the SOF IGKO according to its convenience. There are separate question papers for each class. Any changes in the date for conducting the SOF IGKO is not permitted.
(iv) English is the medium of the IGKO test.
(v) CBSE, ISC/ICSE, and State Board syllabi are followed for setting the test papers.
(vi) The exam is conducted during school hours.
The IGKO Olympiad Eligibility :- Students of classes 1 to 10th are eligible. There is no other IGKO eligibility criterion like minimum marks that needs to be scored for the IGKO olympiad eligibility. SOF IGKO is a single level exam.

2. What is the Ranking Criteria for IGKO?

For students of class 1 and 2, the ranking will be done based on the following criteria,
Marks obtained in the exam.
In case two or more students secured the same number of marks, ranks will be determined based on marks scored in priority sections.
In the case of a tie, the marks scored by a student in a previous class may be considered to determine a certain rank.
In the case where two or more students score the same marks under both the criteria above, both of them will be awarded the same rank.
In case of any issues, the decision of the academic council will be a final & binding after the telephonic round.
3. What is the Pattern of IGKO Exam and IGKO Olympiad Eligibility?
For the IGKO olympiad eligibility Students must be of classes 1 to 10th.
