1. भाई के बुलाने पर घर लौटते समय लेखक के मन में किस बात का डर था?

उत्तर: जिस वक्त लेखक झरबेरी से बेर तोड़ रहा था, तभी एक व्यक्ति ने पुकारकर कहा कि तुम्हारे भाई बुला रहे हैं, शीघ्र चले जाओ। यह सुनकर लेखक घर की ओर चलने लगा। लेखक के मस्तिष्क में भाई साहब की पिटाई का भय था। इसलिए वह सहमा - सहमा जा रहा था। उसे यह बात समझ नहीं आ रही थी, कि उससे क्या गलती हो गई है। उसे लग रहा था कि, कहीं उसके बेर खाने के अपराध में उसकी पेशी न हो रही हो। वह अनजाने भय से डरते - डरते घर में घुसा।

2.मक्खनपुर पढ़ने जाने वाली बच्चों की टोली रास्ते में पड़ने वाले कुएँ में ढेला क्यों फेंकती थी?

उत्तर: मक्खनपुर पढ़ने जाने वाली बच्चों की टोली पूरी वानर टोली थी। उन बच्चों को यह मालुम था, कि कुएं  के भीतर सांप रहता था। लेखक ढेला फेंककर साँप से फुसकार करवा लेना बड़ा काम समझता था। बच्चों में ढेला फेंककर फुसकार सुनने की प्रवृत्ति जाग उठी थी। कुएं में ढेला फेंककर उसकी आवाज़ और उसे सुनने के बाद अपनी बोली की प्रतिध्वनि सुनने की आदत हो गई थी।

3. ‘साँप ने फुफकार मारी या नहीं, ढेला उसे लगा या नहीं, यह बात अब तक स्मरण नहीं’-यह कथन लेखक की किस मनोदशा को स्पष्ट करता है?

उत्तर: यह घटना १९०८ में घटित हुई थी और लेखक ने अपनी माँ को यह बात १९१५ में पुरे सात साल बाद बताई। उन्होंने इसे लिखा तो और बाद में होगा। अंतः उन्हें पुरी घटना याद भी नहीं थी। लेखक ने जब ढेला उठाकर कुएँ में साँप पर फेंका, उस वक्त टोपी में रखी सभी चिट्ठियाँ कुएँ में जा गिरी। यह देख दोनों भाई सहमत उठे और रो पड़े। लेखक को भाई कि मार का भय था। उस वक्त लेखक को माँ की गोद याद आने लगी। अब वे और भी भयभीत हो गए। इस कारण उन्हें यह बात अब याद भी नहीं की ‘साँप ने फुफकार मारी या नहीं, ढेला उसे लगा या नहीं ' ।

4. किन कारणों से लेखक ने चिट्ठियों को कुएँ से निकालने का निर्णय लिया?

उत्तर: लेखक को चिट्ठियाँ उसके भाई ने दी थी। डाकखाने जाते समय कुआँ सामने आया और लेखक ने ढेला उठाकर कुएँ में साँप पर फेंका  उस वक्त टोपी में रखी सभी चिट्ठियाँ कुएँ में जा गिरी। यह देख दोनों भाई सहमत उठे और रो पड़े। लेखक को भाई कि मार का भय था। अब वे और भी भयभीत हो गए। इसी मनोस्थिति के कारण उसने कुएँ से चिट्ठियाँ निकालने का निर्णय किया।

5. साँप का ध्यान बँटाने के लिए लेखक ने क्या-क्या युक्तियाँ अपनाईं?

उत्तर: साँप का ध्यान बँटाने के लिए लेखक ने निम्नलिखित युक्तियाँ अपनाईं:- 

• उसने डंडे से साँप को दबाने का ख्याल मन से निकाल दिया।

• उसने साँप का फन पीछे होते ही, अपना डंडा चिट्ठियों की ओर किया और लिफाफे उठाने की कोशिश की।

• डंडा लेखक की ओर से खींचे जाने पर साँप का आसन बदल गया और लेखक ने तुरंत लिफाफे और पोस्टकार्ड चुने लिया और उसे अपनी धोती के छोर में बांध लिया।

6. कुएँ में उतरकर चिट्ठियों को निकालने संबंधी साहसिक वर्णन को अपने शब्दों में लिखिए

उत्तर: चिट्ठियाँ सूखे कुएँ में गिर गई थीं। और कुएँ में साँप था। कुएँ में उतरकर चिट्ठियाँ लाना बड़ी हिम्मत का काम था। लेखक ने इस चुनौती को स्वीकार किया। लेखक ने छः धोतियों को जोड़कर डंडा बाँध दिया, एक सिरे को कुएँ में डालकर उसके दूसरे सिरे को कुएँ के चारों ओर घुमाने के बाद गाँठ लगाकर अपने छोटे भाई को पकड़ा दिया। लेखक इस धोती के ज़रिए कुएँ में उतर गया। जब वह भूमि से चार - पांच गज ऊपर था, उसने साँप को फन फैलाए देखा। वह कुछ वक्त ऊपर धोती पकड़े लटकता रहा, ताकि वह उसके आक्रमण से बच पाए। साँप को धोती पर लटककर मारना आसान नहीं था व डंडा चलाने के लिए पर्याप्त जगह भी नहीं थी। उसने चिट्ठियों को डंडे से खिसकाने कि कोशिश की साँप ही डंडे से चिपक गया। साँप का पिछला हिस्सा लेखक के हाथ को छू गया, और लेखक ने डंडा भी फेंक दिया। डंडा लेखक की ओर खींच आने से साँप का आसन बदल गया और लेखक ने जल्द ही पोस्टकार्ड और लिफाफे चुन लिए और अपनी धोती के छोर से बाँध लिया।

7. इस पाठ को पढ़ने के बाद किन-किन बाल-सुलभ शरारतों के विषय में पता चलता है?

उत्तर: इस पाठ को पढ़ने के बाद निम्नलिखित बाल-सुलभ शरारतों के विषय में पता चलता है:- 

• बच्चे झरबेरी के बेर तोड़कर खाने का आनंद लेते हैं।

• स्कूल जाते वक्त रास्ते में शरारत करते हैं।

• कठिन और जोखिम पूर्ण कार्य करते हैं।

• जानवरों और जीव - जंतुओं को परेशान करते हैं।

• माली से बिना पूछे फल तोड़ना पसंद करते हैं।

• गलत काम करने के बाद सजा मिलने से डरते हैं।

8. ‘मनुष्य का अनुमान और भावी योजनाएँ कभी-कभी कितनी मिथ्या और उलटी निकलतीहैं’-का आशय स्पष्ट कीजिए।

उत्तर: इस कथन का आशय है कि मनुष्य हर परिस्थिति से निपटने के लिए तरह - तरह के अनुमान लगाते हैं और भविष्य की योजनाएं बनाते हैं। लेकिन उसकी सभी योजनाएं सफ़ल नहीं हो पाती। उसे कभी सफ़लता मिलती है तो कभी विफलता। इससे कई बार मनुष्य दुखी हो जाता है। इस पाठ के लेखक ने कुएँ से चिट्ठियाँ निकालने हेतु कई तरकीबें लगाई, योजनाएं बनाई और उसमें कई तरह के फेर - बदल भी किए। अंतः उसे सफ़लता प्राप्त हुई।

9.‘फल तो किसी दूसरी शक्ति पर निर्भर है’-पाठ के संदर्भ में इस पंक्ति का आशय स्पष्ट कीजिए।

उत्तर: मानव तो कर्म करता है, उसे फ़ल देना तो ईश्वर के ऊपर है। मनचाहे फल को प्राप्त करना मनुष्य के बस की बात नहीं। यह सब तो उसी शक्ति पर निर्भर करता है, जो फ़ल देती है।  इस पाठ के लेखक ने कुएँ से चिट्ठियाँ निकालने हेतु कई तरकीबें लगाई, योजनाएं बनाई और उसमें कई तरह के फेर - बदल भी किए। अंतः उसे सफ़लता प्राप्त हुई। गीता में भी कर्म के महत्व को दर्शाया गया है - ' कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन '।
