There is still a hand to handle the falling leaves, that is, people are still ready to help each other. Trains still arrive for those waiting to reach their destination. Still some say come early because the sun is about to set. Even today someone tells the tale of an old grandmother that there is a world beyond space too. So the hardest time is not yet.

1. कहानी में मोटे-मोटे किस काम के हैं? किन के बारे में और क्यों कहा गया?

उत्तर: मोटे-मोटे से तात्पर्य यहाँ घर के सभी बच्चों से लिया गया है। बच्चे सारे दिन खेलते-कूदते रहते थे परन्तु घर के कामकाज में ज़रा सी भी मदद नहीं करते थे। उनके पिताजी ने फरमान जारी कर दिया की अब ये बच्चे काम करेंगे ना कि आराम। उनके अनुसार आराम के कारण ही सब मोटे होते जा रहे हैं।

2. बच्चों के ऊधम मचाने के कारण घर की क्या दुर्दशा हुई ?

उत्तर: उनके ऊधम से सारे घर में हँगामा मच चुका था, पुरा घर अस्त व्यस्त हो चुका था। सारे घर में मुर्गियाँ ही मुर्गियाँ थीं। भेड़ों ने तो जैसे अपना निवास स्थान बना लिया था। चारों तरफ टूटे हुए तसले, बालटियाँ, लोटे, कटोरे बिखरे पड़े थे। कालीन को झाड़ते वक्त पूरे घर में धूल भर दी गई । चाचा बेचारे तो जैसे अपनी जान बचा ही पाए थे। तरकारी वाली तो अपनी तरकारी खराब होने का मातम रो-रोकर माना रही थी। ऐसा लगता था मानो पूरे घर में तूफान आया है और सारा नाश करके वापस चला गया हो। यहाँ तक कि बच्चों को नहलाने धुलाने के लिए नौकरों को पैसे देने पड़े।

3. ”या तो बच्चा राज कायम कर लो या मुझे ही रख लो।” अम्मा ने कब कहा? और इसका परिणाम क्या हुआ ?

उत्तर: अम्मा ने बच्चों द्वारा किए गए घर के हालत को देखकर ऐसा कहा था। पिताजी ने बच्चों में कामचोरी निकालने की नीयत से उनसे घर के काम काज में हाथ बँटाने के लिए कहा था परन्तु उन्होंने किया इसके विपरीत। सारे घर का हूलिया ही बदल डाला था। चारों तरफ़ समान बिखरा दिया, मुर्गियों और भेड़ों को घर में घुसा दिया। जिसका परिणाम यह हुआ कि काम करने के बजाए उन्होंने घर का काम कई गुना बढ़ा दिया जिससे अम्मा जी बहुत परेशान हो गई थीं। उन्होंने पिताजी को साफ़-साफ़ कह दिया कि या तो बच्चों से करवा लो या मैं मायके चली जाती हूँ। इसका परिणाम ये हुआ कि पिताजी ने घर की किसी भी चीज़ को बच्चों को हाथ ना लगाने कि हिदायत दे डाली नहीं तो सज़ा के लिए तैयार रहने को कहा।

4. ‘कामचोर’ कहानी क्या संदेश देती है ?

उत्तर: कामचोर से यही सीख मिलती है कि काम के लिए समझदारी होना आवश्यक है। बिना सोचे समझे किया गया काम हमेशा नुकसान ही देता है, जैसे पिताजी द्वारा करने को दिए गए कामों को अपनी नासमझी से बच्चों ने बर्बाद कर दिया। अगर वो इसी काम को आराम से व समझदारी से करते तो उनके घर का बुरा हाल न होता। बच्चों को शुरू से तरीके से काम करना सिखाना चाहिए।

5. क्या बच्चों ने उचित निर्णय लिया कि अब चाहे कुछ भी हो जाए, हिलकर पानी भी नहीं पिएँगे।

उत्तर: बच्चों ने उचित निर्णय लिया कि वह अब हिलकर पानी नहीं पिएँगे। क्योंकि उनके पिताजी तो यह चाहते थे कि वह स्वयं उठकर जाएँ और पानी पिएँ जिससे वह कमज़ोर न बनें परन्तु सब बच्चों ने उससे तात्पर्य निकला कि पानी हिल-हिलकर पीना चाहिए। जिसका परिणाम यह हुआ कि बच्चों ने पानी पीते-पीते हिलना आरम्भ कर दिया और धक्का-मुक्की आरम्भ कर दी और सारे मटके और सुराही इधर-उधर गिरा दिए, ना तो उन्होनें ठीक से पानी पीया और न दूसरों को पीने दिया। वैसे तो उन्हें चाहिए था कि स्वयं उठकर पानी पीएँ पर उन्होंने बात को ही गलत समझकर उसका अर्थ बदल डाला।

6. घर के सामान्य काम हों या अपना निजी काम, प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को अपनी क्षमता के अनुरूप उन्हें करना आवश्यक क्यों है?

उत्तर: यह इसलिए भी जरूरी है कि यदि हम अपने घर का काम या अपना निजी काम, नहीं करेंगे तो हम कामचोर बन जाएँगे और दूसरों पर आश्रित हो जाएँगे और ये निर्भरता हमें निकम्मा बना देगी। इसलिए हमें चाहिए कि अपने काम दूसरों से ना करवाकर स्वंय करें अपने काम के लिए आत्मनिर्भर बनें। हमें चाहिए कि हम अपने काम के साथ-साथ दूसरों के काम में भी मदद करें। अपना काम अपने अनुसार और समय पर किया जा सकता है।

7. भरा-पूरा परिवार कैसे सुखद बन सकता है और कैसे दुखद? कामचोर कहानी के आधर पर निर्णय कीजिए।

उत्तर: यदि सारा-परिवार मिल जुलकर कार्य करे तो घर को सुखद बनाया जा सकता है। इससे घर के किसी भी सदस्य पर अधिक कार्य का दबाव नहीं पड़ेगा। सब अपनी अपनी कार्यक्षमता के आधार पर कार्य को बाँट लें व उसे समय पर निपटा लें तो सब को एक दूसरे के साथ वक्त बिताने का अधिक समय मिलेगा इससे सारे घर में आपसी प्रेम का विकास होगा और खुशहाली ही खुशहाली होगी। इसके विपरीत यदि घर के सदस्य घर के कामों के प्रति बेरूखा व्यवहार रखेंगे और किसी भी काम में हाथ नहीं बटाएँगे तो सारे घर में अशांति ही फैलेगी, घर में खर्च का दबाव बनेगा, घर के सभी सदस्य कामचोर बन जाएँगे और अपने कामों के लिए सदैव दूसरों पर निर्भर रहेंगे जिससे एक ही व्यक्ति पर सारा दबाव बन जाएगा। यदि इन सबसे निपटने की कोशिश की गई तो वही हाल होगा जो कामचोर में घर के बच्चों ने घर का किया था। वे घर की शन्ति व सुःख को एक ही पल में बर्बाद कर देंगे। इसलिए चाहिए कि बचपन से ही बच्चों को उनके काम स्वयं करने की आदत डालनी चाहिए ताकि उन्हें आत्मनिर्भर भी बनाया जाए और घर के प्रति ज़िम्मेदार भी।

8. बड़े होते बच्चे किस प्रकार माता-पिता के सहयोगी हो सकते हैं और किस प्रकार भार? कामचोर कहानी के आधर पर अपने विचार व्यक्त कीजिए।

उत्तर: अगर बच्चों को बचपन से अपना कार्य स्वयं करने की सीख दी जाए तो बड़े होकर बच्चे माता-पिता के बहुत बड़े सहयोगी हो सकते हैं। वह अगर अपने आप नहा धोकर स्कूल के लिए तैयार हो जाएँ, अपने जुराब स्वयं धो लें व जूते पालिश कर लें, अपने खाने के बर्तन यथा सम्भव स्थान पर रख आएँ, अपने कमरे को सहज कर रखें तो माता-पिता का बहुत सहयोग कर सकते हैं। यदि उन्हें कार्य करने की सीख न  दी जाए तो वह अपने माता-पिता का सहयोग नहीं करेंगे इसके विपरीत वह सब कुछ तहस-नहस कर देंगे।

9. ‘कामचोर’ कहानी एकल परिवार की कहानी है या संयुक्त परिवार की? इन दोनों तरह के परिवारों में क्या-क्या अंतर होते हैं?

उत्तर: कामचोर कहानी सयुंक्त परिवार की कहानी है इन दोनों में अन्तर इस प्रकार है –

एकल परिवार में सदस्यों की संख्या तीन से चार होती है जिसमें माता-पिता व बच्चे होते हैं। एकल परिवार में कम सदस्य होने के कारण सहयोग नहीं हो पाता।

संयुक्त परिवार के सदस्य की संख्या एकल की तुलना में ज्यादा होती है क्योंकि इसमें चाचा, चाची, ताऊजी, ताई जी ,दादा जी , दादी जी , माता , पिता और बच्चे सभी सम्मिलित होते हैं। परिवार में सहयोग अधिक मात्रा में होता है क्योंकि इसमें सभी लोग मिल जुल कर रहते हैं।

10. ”धुली-बेधुली बालटी लेकर आठ हाथ चार थनों पर पिल पड़े।” धुली शब्द से पहले ‘बे’ लगाकर बेधुली बना है। जिसका अर्थ है ‘बिना धुली’ ‘बे’ एक उपसर्ग है। ‘बे’ उपसर्ग से बननेवाले कुछ और शब्द हैं-
