Hint:Chemical reactions are classified into two types on the basis of energy utilisation: endothermic reactions and exothermic reactions. First, we will see the characteristics of both the types of reactions and then will discuss which of these two types of reactions is faster and provide a logical reason for the same.

Complete step by step solution:
Exothermic reactions are the reactions that evolve energy in the form of heat or light that are transferred to the surroundings and endothermic reactions are the reactions that absorb energy in the form of heat or light.
Exothermic reactions take place faster than endothermic reactions, as they do not need any kind of external energy inputs to occur. They already have their energy needs fulfilled and are often rapid and spontaneous.
On the other hand, endothermic reactions require energy, generally in the form of heat energy, so as to climb up to their external energy barrier even before they begin to take place. Endothermic reactions are slow and gradual, as first, the required energy has to be absorbed and then, has to be further utilised.

Note: The endothermic reactions require external energy in form of heat or light from the surroundings. Exothermic reactions evolve heat or light in the chemical reaction. Most of the exothermic reactions are spontaneous. Hence, combustion reactions are also exothermic reactions as they are spontaneous and evolve heat.
