CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) is called a type of MOSFET (Metal Oxide semiconductor field effect transistor). MOSFETs were discovered to minimize the disadvantages caused by FETs (Field Effect Transistor) like slow operating capability, high draining resistance and moderate impedance (input).
These are the devices used for switching and amplifying the circuits. This device is controlled by current and its construction is made involving three terminals. CMOS basically is the type of MOSFETs but they are more modified versions of MOSFETs. Fabrication process uses complementary and symmetrical pairs of p-type and n-type MOSFETs that perform logic functions.
