Binding Energy (E):

$E = \Delta m \times c^2$


Where:

Δm is the mass defect (mass difference between the nucleus and its individual nucleons),

c is the speed of light.


Nuclear Reaction Energy (Q-value):

$Q = (\text{Mass of reactants}) - (\text{Mass of products})$


For a nuclear reaction aA + bB → cC + dD

Where a,b,c,d are coefficients.


Rutherford Scattering Formula:

$\frac{1}{\tan(\frac{\theta}{2})^2} = \frac{4Z_1 Z_2 e^2}{\pi \varepsilon_0 mv^2 b}$


Where:

θ is the scattering angle,

$Z_1, Z_2$ are the atomic numbers of the incident and target nuclei,

e is the elementary charge,

$\epsilon_0$​ is the permittivity of free space,

m is the mass of the incident particle,

v is the velocity of the incident particle,

b is the impact parameter.
