IIT Palakkad was founded in 2015 and is one of India's third-generation IITs. The IIT Palakkad team is currently being mentored by the IIT Madras team. The college is currently operating from a temporary campus at the Ahalia Integrated Campus in Kozhippara, Palakkad, and a permanent campus in Kanjikode. Scholarship

A merit cum means scholarship is awarded to students of the GE/BC-NCL category with annual family income less than Rs. 4.5 lakh.
