IIT Bombay Admission Process

The academic structure of IIT Bombay is exceptionally well throughout the country. It exhibits diversity, fineness and in-depth study in any matter. Admission in IIT Bombay is enabled through your rank/score in various entrances. It includes the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for undergraduates. Others are Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED), M.E.T for M Phil. And JAM for MSC. IIT Bombay also offers scholarship to students through, Merit-cum-means and Free-Messing Scholarship.


The admission process begins in September for undergraduates and March for Postgraduate programmes. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority regulates the counselling process for admission to all IITs. The candidate is allotted a seat through his JEE ADVANCED RANK and preference of the courses.


There are six counselling sessions for the candidates. The eligibility criteria of almost all the courses include:

  1. 10+2, with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects.

  2. Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology as additional subjects.

  3. Above 75% marks in 12th Board, 65% for Scheduled caste and tribes.

  4. With the cut-off of the particular course.

Application Process

To apply at IIT Bombay, the candidates are required to fill their applications. It happens through the online portal on the website. IIT Bombay Application Step-Wise Procedure:

  1. Visit the official application portal of IIT Bombay.

  2. Click on the desired course.

  3. Click on the “Apply Online” tab.

  4. Register as a new user by filling the required details.

  5. Log in with your credentials and fill accurate details in the application form.

  6. Enter academic qualifications.

  7. Pay the application fee and submit the application form.

IIT Bombay Cut Offs

The admission process is regulated by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) in which IIT Bombay concludes the cutoff and the merit list is declared by JoSAA after each round.
