How Many Times A Candidate Can Appear for JEE Main?

As per NTA, applicants can appear in the JEE Main exams six times during a period of three consecutive years from passing Class 12th 2023, 2024, and 2025. In other words, in a year, a candidate is eligible to take JEE Main twice in January & April sessions.

All students taking the second session of JEE Main must know that the scores of JEE Main 2023 are valid only for the current year, i.e. for the year for which they’ve appeared. Candidates who appear for the JEE Main 2023 can apply to an engineering institution only for that academic year, i.e. 2023-24.

Subject Combinations for JEE Main

Eligibility for the JEE Main Attempt

How many attempts for JEE Main? In JEE Main, a candidate can appear six times during three consecutive years, starting from passing their Class 12 exams. Apart from this, candidates must check out the JEE Main eligibility criteria 2023 to sit in the exam. 

Here are the JEE Main 2023 eligibility criteria as follows:

• The NTA mentions no age criteria for the candidates appearing for the JEE Main. Students of any age can take the exam, but only for three consecutive years, starting from passing Class 12th.

• For B.Tech admissions, it is compulsory for the candidates to pass Class 12th with subjects like Physics & Mathematics along with any one subject of their choice among Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology.

• For B.Arch admissions, aspirants must have passed their Class 12th or equivalent exam with  subjects like Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.

• For B.Plan admissions, candidates must have Mathematics in Class 12th.

• A Diploma holder cannot take the JEE Main entrance exams.

• Candidates must have scored at least 75% in their Class 12th examinations held by the respective boards. 

• For SC/ST aspirants, the percentage criteria in Class 12 would be 65%.
