Hint: Plants are the pioneer community and they start succession in all the ecosystems. This can be for the first time or redeveloping a habitat. Also, plants are found both on the land and the water.

Step by step answer:The types of plant succession are as follows –
Based on the area of nudity:
Primary succession – It starts at a barren land, which never had any vegetation before. No living organisms have ever existed on it. Due to this, it becomes difficult for the pioneer community to establish here.
Secondary succession – It starts at places that lost all the vegetation and the living organisms that existed there with time. Since here some sort of community was already present so it becomes relatively easy for the pioneer community to establish here.
Based on the nature of habitat:
Xerarch succession – The succession that occurs on rocks.
Hydrarch succession – The succession that occurs in aquatic habitats.

Note: In all ecosystems, plants are the pioneer community. This means that they start the process of succession. Not only this, but they are also the transitional community. The animals usually come at the last when the climax stage is reached or it ends.
