The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on 15 December in the same year to designate 5 June as World Environment Day. The United Nations also passed another resolution on 15-Decemcer, 1972 to create the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The first World Environment Day was celebrated in 1974. The slogan for the first World Environment Day was “Only one earth”.
