The Second Anglo–Mysore War was one of the most important wars in history. It happened between the Kingdom of Mysore and the British East India Company and it has an important role in history. The war started in the year 1780 and continued to 1784. The war happened because of certain reasons, the Marathas attacked Mysore in 1771,but the British people were not ready to object to the Treaty of Madras and did not give any support to Hyder Ali. That made Hyder Ali angry against them and he started to think against the Britishers. When the English attacked Mahe, a French possession under Hyder Ali’s against the process of Britishers, he declared war on the English in 1780. At the time Hyder Ali allied with Nizam and the Marathas and defeated the British forces. In 1782 Hyder Ali died but the war was not stopped and it was continued by his son Tipu Sultan. Sir Eyre Coote defeated Hyder Ali earlier many times. The war ended with the Treaty of Mangalore. The Treaty was signed by the ruler Tipu Sultan and the British East India Company in the year 1784 March 11. It was signed in the place of Mangalore so it is called Mangalore Treaty and it leads to an end to the Second Anglo-Mysore War.
