Two uses of manganese are:-
a. It is used in making bleaching powder, insecticides, paints, batteries, china clay.

India ranks 2nd in the world for the size of its Manganese ores and 5th in the world for its production. Odisha produces 33% of the manganese in the country, Madhya Pradesh produces 20.3% and Maharashtra produces 23%. The main sites at which manganese ore is found are – Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Koraput, Bolangir and Sambalpur in Orissa, Nagpur and Bhandara in Maharashtra and Singhbhum in Jharkhand.

Note: India’s manganese is of the highest quality and is in great demand. Japan is the leading importer of Manganese from India. Manganese is mainly used to make clear glass and to desulfurize and deoxidize steel in steel production.
