Bakharwal breed derives its name from the rearing of sheep which is a nomadic tribe. The Bakharwal sheep are entirely migratory and have no distinct home tract. They may be found in the Pir Panjal ranges of the Jammu division during winter and migrate to the Kashmir Valley during summer. The fleece is generally white although sheep with coloured fleece may also be observed. The animals are small sized with long and drooping ears, small and thin tails, ram horned and ewes polled. The sheep is shorn three times a year and produce a total annual wool of 1 to 1.5 kg per animal.

The Rampur Bushair breed is widely spread in districts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. The sheep is medium sized with white colour fleece most predominant, but the sheep with brown, black and tan colour can also be seen. The quality of fleece is medium and is dense. The animal has long and drooping ears and a typical roman nose. The breed has horned males and mostly polled females. The sheep has no wool on Legs, belly and face.

The Patanwadi sheep are also known by the various names such as Desi, Kutchi, Kathiawari, Vadhiyari and Charotari) found in the coastal plains of the Saurashtra and Kutch regions of Gujarat, and the sandy loamy areas of Patan, Panch Mahals and Mehsana districts of Gujarat. The breed has three distinct strains, non-migratory, migratory and meat type. The non-migratory have small bodies, migratory with large bodies and long legs and meat type has big bodies and low stature.

The Lohi sheep is also known as Parkanni are found in the southern Punjab in Pakistan and states of Rajasthan and Haryana in India. The breed is known for its carpet quality wool and has good meat production. The animals are medium sized with white color bodies. The face is brown in color with wool on the forehead.
