A protein has a Quaternary structure. Protein is generally made up of two or more polypeptide chains which are linked by peptide bonds where peptide bond is an amide which is a type of chemical bond linking between two consecutive alpha-amino acids of one alpha amino acid of carbon and another one of nitrogen.
Complex proteins are generally made up of different types of protein molecules which are linked with each other through non-covalent bonds. Amino acids are known as the basic units of the proteins. They link together to form a primary structure known as polypeptide chain and the secondary structure of proteins is made up of beta sheets or alpha helices. This structure then folds into a three-dimensional structure which is known as tertiary structure and this protein structure binds with a non-protein moiety to form a Quaternary structure which is further known as complex protein. Thus we can define this as the process of complex formation.

Proteins are very important for the growth and maintenance of the body and proteins are also responsible for some body functions like digestion process, energy production, blood clotting and muscle contraction and it also acts as a messenger in our body.
