Hint: Hormones are the chemical substances synthesized by the endocrine gland of the body. These glands secrete hormones time to time in a very regulated manner which controls the particular function or character of different body parts. Some hormones are GH, ADH, prolactin, and oxytocin etc. The milk ejection hormone is released from the pituitary glands. The muscle surrounding the breast is stimulated by the milk ejection hormone to expel out the milk.
Complete answer:
The Oxytocin hormone helps in the generation of ejection of hormones producing milk.
Oxytocin is a peptide hormone. In the hypothalamus, there is a production of oxytocin hormone and from the posterior pituitary, it is released into the bloodstream.
During labor Oxytocin as a hormone is released into the bloodstream in response to stretching of the cervix and uterus. It also stimulates the nipples from breastfeeding. This hormone thus plays a role in the birth of a child, and the production of milk.
The Oxytocin hormone was discovered by Henry Dale in the year 1906.
Due to the function of the oxytocin hormone on the mammary gland, the milk travels down into the lactiferous duct and from this duct, the milk is excreted through nipples.
Also,
Prolactin-pituitary glands secrete a protein called prolactin hormone. The stimulation of the mammary glands to produce milk is induced by prolactin.
Vasopressin- Vasopressin is also called antidiuretic hormone (ADH) and it is secreted from the posterior pituitary. Its function is to increase the quantity of solute-free water reabsorbed back into the circulation.
Luteinizing hormone- Luteinizing hormone(LH) is a hormone produced by gonadotropic cells in the anterior pituitary gland. LH works upon endocrine cells in the gonads to produce androgens in both males and females.
The correct answer for the above question is option ( B ) that is Oxytocin.
Note: The hormone oxytocin leads to the milk ejection. The Oxytocin hormone helps in the generation of ejection of hormones producing milk whereas the growth of the mammary glands and lactation in females is stimulated by prolactin hormone.
