Hint: This process is used in the reaction between magnesium and oxygen to form magnesium oxide. In this reaction magnesium atom loses two electrons to form an $M{{g}^{+2}}$ion. These reactions are the foundation of electrochemical cells, which can generate electrical energy or support electro synthesis.

Complete step by step answer:
What is meant by bleaching action?
Bleaching agents are compounds which are used to remove certain colours from substances such as textiles. The decolorizing action of bleaches is due to their ability to remove these electrons which are activated by visible light to produce the various colours. Bleach works by releasing oxygen molecules in the process called oxidation. The oxygen molecules released by bleach break the chemical bonds of chromophores.

What is Oxidation Reaction?
Oxidation is the loss of electrons during a reaction by a molecule, atom or ion. Oxidation occurs when the oxidation state of a molecule, atom or ion is increased.
Example: The reaction between magnesium metal and oxygen to form magnesium oxide involves the oxidation of magnesium.

Now, let us see the bleaching action of chlorine!
Chlorine bleaches by the process of oxidation. It needs moisture for its bleaching action. Chlorine reacts with water to form hydrochloric and hypochlorous acids. Hypochlorous acid is unstable and it easily dissociates to form nascent oxygen.
$C{{l}_{2}}+{{H}_{2}}O\to 2HCl+\left[ O \right]$
Bleaching action done by this way is permanent because other compounds like sulphur dioxide bleaches by reduction which is considered to be mild. Atmospheric oxygen slowly takes place of the removed oxygen and because of which the material regains the colour.

Therefore, Bleaching action of chlorine is done by oxidation.
Option A is your answer!

Note: Oxidation can damage vital molecules in our cells, including DNA and proteins, which are responsible for many body processes. Molecules such as DNA are needed for cells to function properly, so if too many are damaged, the cell can malfunction or die.
