CBSE Class 12 English Core Question Paper 2020

Class- 12 English is one of the scoring subjects and with the right approach you can increase your overall percentage in boards. The best way to solve the question paper is to read the questions thoroughly and start writing the answer in your notebook. After completing the exam, get it checked by your subject teacher. And pen down the questions that are incorrect or the topics that require more practice. Also, do not read the answers before attempting the questions by yourself. You also need to make sure that you complete the question paper within the 3 hours time frame. 

Important topics for English writing skills are- Writing formal complaint letters, inquiries, information letters, order placements and replies, letters to the editor providing suggestions and comments, and letters applying for a job. - Writing essays, debates and speeches. Some of the most frequently asked topics are Writing essays, debates, and speeches on banning mobile phones at school, increasing dropout rates in schools, and implementing continuous and comprehensive evaluation. 

Besides essays, students will also be required to write debates, notices, letters, etc. Questions on this topic include – Environment safety measures, Cleanliness drives, Making students or the neighborhood aware of water conservation, electricity conservation Letter to the editor for garbage disposal.

Here are the different sections of the English core and their respective marks:

• Section A: Reading Comprehension - 20

• Section B: Writing skills - 30

• Section C: Literature Section - 30

For the reading and literature section, you can prepare from the NCERT textbook. And to prepare writing skills it is advisable to practice article writing, letter writing, report writing and essay writing from sample papers and previous years papers.

• Section C: Literature Section - 20

Previous year questions help you prepare better for the exam and also allows you to polish your writing skills. However, it is mandatory to complete the syllabus from the NCERT book before practicing the previous year question paper. This is because to attempt the question paper in English you need to have a thorough understanding of chapters, which can only be done by reading the book. Preparing the past year question papers will only serve the purpose to revise and take your preparation to another level. 

• Develop strong reading comprehension: Practice reading various texts like novels, articles, poems, etc., and answer comprehension questions based on them.

• Focus on grammar and vocabulary: Brush up on your grammar rules and improve your vocabulary by reading extensively and using a good dictionary or thesaurus.

• Analyze past papers and understand the marking scheme: Familiarize yourself with the question types and marking scheme to understand what examiners expect.

Direct question repeats are highly unlikely. CBSE aims to assess a wide range of concepts and skills, and relying on specific questions would limit that scope. However, studying Vedantu’s sample papers and previous years' question papers is valuable.
