(क) बाएँ पाँव का जूता ठीक है मगर दाहिने जूते में बड़ा छेद हो गया है जिसमें से अँगुली बाहर निकल आई है।

(ख) लोग तो इत्र चुपड़कर फोटो खिंचाते हैं जिससे फोटो में खुशबू आ जाए।

(ग) तुम्हारी यह व्यंग्य मुसकान मेरे हौसले बढ़ाती है।

(घ) जिसे तुम घृणित समझते हो, उसकी तरफ़ अँगूठे से इशारा करते हो?

उत्तर: (ख) लोग तो इत्र चुपड़कर फोटो खिंचाते हैं जिससे फोटो में खुशबू आ जाए। (✔)

3. नीचे दी गई पंक्तियों में निहित व्यंग्य को स्पष्ट कीजिए:

(क) जूता हमेशा टोपी से कीमती रहा है। अब तो जूते की कीमत और बढ़ गई है और एक जूते पर पचीसों टोपियाँ न्योछावर होती हैं।

उत्तर: यहाँ जूतों का आशय अमीरी से है और टोपी प्रतिष्ठा, मर्यादा और गौरव का प्रतीक है। इज़्ज़त का महत्व धन, संपत्ति से ऊँचा होता है। परन्तु आज समाज में संपत्ति को इज़्ज़त से ऊपर रखा जाता है और इसी कारण समृद्ध लोगों को हमेशा से ही धनवानों के आगे झुकना पड़ा है। 

(ख) तुम परदे का महत्व ही नहीं जानते, हम परदे पर कुर्बान हो रहे हैं।

उत्तर: प्रेमचंद ने अपनी वास्तविकता को कभी परदे में नहीं रखा अर्थात कभी ढ़कने का प्रयास नहीं करा। वे  जैसे असल ज़िन्दगी में थे, लोगों से मिलते वक़्त भी वैसे ही थे। वे भीतर - बाहर एक सामान थे। एक ओर प्रेमचंद को कोई चिंता नहीं थी कि लोग उनके फ़टे जूतों के बारे क्या सोचेंगे और दूसरी ओर कुछ लोग अपनी कमियों को छिपाने के लिए तरह - तरह की चीज़ें करते हैं।

(ग) जिसे तुम घृणित समझते हो, उसकी तरफ़ हाथ की नहीं, पाँव की अँगुली से इशारा करते हो?

उत्तर: (प्रेमचंद सामाजिक कुरीतियों व बुराइयों से दूर रहे हैं और उन्होंने हमेशा से ही इन्हें द्वेष के रूप में देखा है। वें गलत चीज़ को हाथ से नहीं अपितु पाँव की अंगुली से सम्बोधित करना उचित समझते है।

4. पाठ में एक जगह पर लेखक सोचता है कि 'फोटो खिंचाने की अगर यह पोशाक है तो पहनने की कैसी होगी?' लेकिन अगले ही पल वह विचार बदलता है कि 'नहीं, इस आदमी की अलग-अलग पोशाकें नहीं होंगी।' आपके अनुसार इस संदर्भ में प्रेमचंद के बारे में लेखक के विचार बदलने की क्या वजहें हो सकती हैं?

उत्तर: अक्सर लोग दैनिक जीवन में साधारण व पुराने कपड़े पहनते है और ख़ास मौके पर नए और अच्छे कपड़ो का प्रयोग करते हैं। लेखक ने पहले सोचा कि प्रेमचंद ने विशेष अवसर पर साधारण कपड़े पहने है तो रोज़ ज़िन्दगी में कितने साधारण कपड़े पहनते होंगे। परन्तु बाद में लेखक ने अपने विचार बदल लिए क्योंकि उन्हें लगा की प्रेमचंद का जीवन सादगी से भरा है और वह दिखावे की दुनिया से दूर है।

5. आपने यह व्यंग्य पढ़ा। इसे पढ़कर आपको लेखक की कौन सी बातें आकर्षित करती हैं?

उत्तर: लेखक ने अपनी बात को व्यंग्य के माध्यम से कही है। प्रेमचंद के व्यक्तित्व की विशेषताओं को व्यक्त करने के लिए जिन उदाहरणों का प्रयोग किया गया है, वे व्यंग्य को और भी आकर्षित बनाते हैं। लेखक ने सामाजिक बुराइयों व समाज के दोषों को बड़ी सरलता से व्यक्त किया है।

उत्तर: हमारे एक दूर के रिश्तेदार दिल्ली में रहते हैं। अक्सर नए कपडे, संपत्ति और चकाचौंध वाली वस्तुओं को लेकर दिखावा करते हैं। वे हमारे घर राजस्थान के एक गांव आए। अब हम ठहरे सादा जीवन जीने वाले लोग। उन्होंने हमारे कपड़ों को लेकर एवं हमारे गांव में मिलते पोशाकों को लेकर मज़ाक उड़ाया परन्तु अगले ही दिन उनके बच्चों को हमारे गांव के बाजार में एक पोशाक  पसंद आ गई और लेने की ज़िद करने लगे। और उनके माता - पिता को वह खरीदनी पड़ी। एक ओर उन्होंने मज़ाक बनाया और अब उसी पोशाक को खरीदा। 

8. आपकी दृष्टि में वेशभूषा के प्रति लोगों की सोच में आज क्या परिवर्तन आया है? 

उत्तर: आज की दुनिया दिखावे के प्रति ज़्यादा जागरूक है। लोग आपका सम्मान आपकी वेश - भूषा  करते है अर्थात व्यक्ति का मान - सम्मान और चरित्र  भी वेशभूषा पर निर्भर करती है। आजकल सादगी से जीवन जीने वालों को पिछड़ा  समझा जाता है।

उत्तर:

• व्यंग्य - मुस्कान (मज़ाक उडाना) - रोहन ने सीमा को व्यंगय भरी मुस्कान से देखा।
• अंगुली का इशारा (कुछ बताने की कोशिश) - राम ने श्याम को अंगुली का इशारा किया।
• अटक जाना (स्थिर हो जाना) - वृन्दावन को देख श्यामा की नज़र अटक गई।
• बाजू से निकलना (कठिनाइयों से दूर भागना) - वीर मुश्किल वक्त में डटकर सामना करने के बजाय बाजू से निकल गया।
