1. “लाला ने लोटा ले लिया, बोले कुछ नहीं, अपनी पत्नी का अदब मानते थे।”

लाला झाऊलाल को बेढंगा लोटा बिलकुल पसंद नहीं था। फिर भी उन्होंने चुपचाप लोटा ले लिया। आपके विचार से वे चुप क्‍यों रहे? अपने विचार लिखिए।

उत्तर:  लाला झाऊलाल ने बेढंगा लोटा नापसंद होने के बावजूद चुपचाप ले लिया क्यूंकि वो अपनी पत्नी की धाक से परिचित थे एवं उनका अदब रखते थे। साथ में उन्हें भी यह ज्ञात था की उनसे पैसे का इंतजाम अब तक नहीं हो पाया है। इस स्थिति में वो पत्नी से किसी भी तरीके से उलझ कर अपनी मुसीबत और नहीं बढ़ा सकते हैं।

2. लाला झाऊलाल जी ने फौरन दो और दो जोड़कर स्थिति को समझ लिया।” आपके विचार से लाला झाऊलाल ने कौन-कौन सी बातें समझ ली होंगी?

उत्तर: दो और दो जोड़ कर स्थिति समझ लेना, यह एक मुहावरा है जिस का अर्थ किसी भी परिस्थिति के कथानक को समझ लेना। 

कहानी में लोटे के गिरते ही एक शोर के साथ भीड़ नीचे एकत्र होती है एवं लाला जी को ये दृष्टिगत होता है कि एक अँगरेज़ महाशय पानी से भींगे हुए, अपने पैर को पकडे नाच रहे हैं, उन्हें यह दो और दो जोड़ने में वक़्त नहीं लगता की उनके द्वारा गिराए गए लोटे ने किसको शिकार बनाया है।

3. अंग्रेज़ के सामने बिलवासी जी ने झाऊलाल को पहचानने तक से क्यों इनकार कर दिया था?आपके विचार से बिलवासी जी ऐसा अजीब व्यवहार क्‍यों कर रहे थे? स्पष्ट कीजिए।

उत्तर: पंडित बिलवासी जी देखते ही पूरा माजरा समझ गए और साथ ही उनके चालाक दिमाग में लाला जी के मदद के लिए एक योजना ने भी आकार ले लिया था। जिसके अन्तर्गत ही उन्होंने झाऊलाल को पहचानने से इनकार कर दिया और अजीब व्यवहार करने लगे ताकि अँगरेज़ को उनके योजना की भनक न लगे।  

4. बिलवासी जी ने रुपयों का प्रबंध कहाँ से किया था? लिखिए।

उत्तर:  बिलवासी जी ने रुपयों का प्रबंध अपनी पत्नी के संदूक से किया था, जिसमे वो अपने पैसे बचाकर रखती थी।

5. आपके विचार से अंग्रेज ने यह पुराना लोटा क्यों खरीद लिया? आपस में चर्चा करके वास्तविक कारण की खोज कीजिए और लिखिए।

उत्तर: अँगरेज़ ने यह लोटा बिलवासी जी के बातों में आकर , अपने पडोसी मेजर डगलस के साथ चली आ रही प्रतिद्वंद्विता में उनको पराजित करने एवं  ऐतहासिक चीज़ों के संग्रह के शौक के कारण  खरीदा।

6. “इस भेद को मेरे सिवाए मेरा ईश्वर ही जानता है। आप उसी से पूछ लीजिए। मैं नहीं बताऊँगा।”बिलवासी जी ने यह बात किससे और क्‍यों कही? लिखिए।

उत्तर: बिलवासी जी ने पैसों का प्रबंध अपनी पत्नी के संदूक में रखे पत्नी के पैसों में से किया था और वह इस बात से लज्जित भी थे। साथ ही वो नहीं चाहते थे यह बात किसी भी तरह से उनकी पत्नी के कानों में पड़े। इसलिए बिलवासी जी ने यह बात झाऊलाल से कही।

7.“उस दिन रात्रि में बिलवासी जी को देर तक नींद नहीं आई।” समस्या झाऊलाल की थी और नींद बिलवासी की उड़ी तो क्यों? लिखिए।

उत्तर: बिलवासी जी ने वो पैसे अपनी पत्नी के संदूक से चुराए थे और उन्हें पता था कि अगर उनकी पत्नी को ये बात पता चली तो हंगामा हो सकता है, इसीलिए वो अपनी पत्नी को बिना खबर लगे पैसे वापस उसी संदूक में रख देना चाहते थे ताकि अपनी संभावित फ़ज़ीहत से बचा जा सके। यही कारण था की बिलवासी जी को उस दिन देर रात तक नींद नहीं आयी।

8 . लेकिन मुझे इसी जिंदगी में चाहिए।”

“अजी इसी सप्ताह में ले लेना।”

“सप्ताह से आपका तात्यर्य सात दिन से है या सात वर्ष से?”

झाऊलाल और उनकी पत्नी के बीच की इस बातचीत से क्या पता चलता है लिखिए।

उत्तर: झाऊलाल और उनकी पत्नी के बातचीत से हमें यह पता चलता है कि उनकी पत्नी को अपने पति की आर्थिक स्थिति ज्ञात थी। साथ ही उन्हें अपने पति की आर्थिक मितव्ययिता का भी ज्ञान था। इस कारण से उन्हें बिल्कुल भी भरोसा नहीं था कि उनके पति इतने कम समय में इतने पैसों का इंतेज़ाम कर पाएंगे।

9. क्या होता यदि, अंग्रेज़ लोटा न खरीदता?

उत्तर: यदि अंग्रेज लोटा नहीं खरीदता तो निश्चय ही झाऊलाल जी बड़े ही कठिन परिस्थिति में होते , या तो उन्हें अपनी पत्नी के व्यंग्य और ताने से भरी हँसी झेलनी पड़ती, जो की उनके पौरुष को ठेस पहुँचाता या फिर उन्हें बिलवासी जी से पैसे उधार लेने पड़ते जोकि बिलवासी जी को भी मुश्किल में डाल सकता था।

10. क्या होता यदि, यदि अंग्रेज़ पुलिस को बुला लेता?

उत्तर: यदि अंग्रेज़ पुलिस को बुला लेता तो झाऊलाल जी को शर्मिंदगी झेलने के साथ- साथ जुर्माना भी भरना पड़ता।

11. क्या होता यदि, जब बिलवासी अपनी पत्नी के गले से चाबी निकाल रहे थे, तभी उनकी पत्नी जाग जाती?

उत्तर: यदि चाबी निकालते वक़्त उनकी पत्नी जग जाती और बिलवासी जी पकडे जाते तो उनके लिए एक मुसीबत खड़ी हो सकती थी एवं उन्हें बहुत से ऐसे प्रश्नों के उत्तर देने पड़ सकते थे , जिनका उत्तर उस समय देना मुश्किल होता।

12. बिलवासी जी ने जिस तरीके से रुपयों का प्रबंध किया, वह सही था या गलत?

उत्तर: बिलवासी जी ने जिस तरीके से रुपयों का प्रबंध किया वो निश्च्य ही गलत था। उन्होंने झाऊलाल जी की जरुरत पूरी करने के लिए उस अँगरेज़ को बेवकूफ बनाया जो की उचित नहीं कहा जा सकता।

13. इस कहानी में लेखक ने जगह-जगह पर सीधी-सी बात कहने के बदले रोचक मुहावरों,उदाहरणों आदि के द्वारा कहकर अपनी बात को और अधिक मजेदार/रोचक बना दिया है। कहानी से वे वाक्य चुनकर लिखिए जो आपको सबसे अधिक मजेदार लगे।

उत्तर: 

1. अब तक बिलवासी जी को वे अपनी आँखो से खा चुके होते।

2. कुछ ऐसी गढ़न उस लोटे की थी कि उसका बाप डमरू, माँ चिलम रही हो।

3. ढ़ाई सौ रूपए तो एक साथ आँख सेंकने के लिए भी न मिलते हैं।

14. इस कहानी में लेखक ने अनेक मुहावरों का प्रयोग किया है। कहानी में से पाँच मुहावरे चुनकर उनका प्रयोग करते हुए वाक्य लिखिए।

उत्तर:

1.  चैन की नींद सोना - (निश्चिंत सोना)

इम्तहान  खत्म होने के बाद बच्चे चैन की नींद सोये। 

2.  आँखों से खा जाना - (क्रोधित होना)

छोटी सी भूल हो जाने पर मालिक ने नौकर को ऐसे देखा जैसे आँखों से ही खा जायेगा। 

4. आँख सेंकने के लिए भी न मिलना - (दुर्लभ होना)

ढ़ाई सौ रूपए तो एक साथ आँख सेंकने के लिए भी न मिलते हैं।

5. मारा-मारा फिरना - (ठोकरें खाना)

बेटे आलीशान घर में रहते है और बाप बेचारा मारा-मारा फिरता हैं।

6. डींगे सुनाना - (झूठ-मूठ की तारीफ सुनाना)

झाऊलाल जी ने अपनी पत्नी को खूब डींगें सुनाई थी।

Lalaji started drinking water, and then lota slipped from his hand and fell at the foot of an Englishman standing at the shop downstairs. Lala Ji went down running. He thought to take advantage of the situation. He described the lota as historic and told that it is a historic lota.
